One of the great thrills in travelling in continental Europe is to come unexpectedly across a restaurant in a rural setting where the patron is not only a wizard in the kitchen but a very welcoming and entertaining presence in the dining area itself. The Rosso di Sera Trattoria e Pizzeria in Abbazia di Albino therefore came as a great surprise and treat. Abbazia di Albino is a small village on the edge of Albino, roughly 15 kms northeast of Bergamo in Lombardy, Northern Italy. This small restaurant was opened in the Spring of 2014 by Andrea Borza and his brother, both of whom I learned had returned to their home area after spending a number of years plying their trade in the Enoteca Delle Langhe in Dublinâs Italian Quarter. Situated in the valley of the river Serio, Rosso di Sera is beautifully surrounded by colourful mountains on all sides and has a totally away-from-it-all atmosphere. It is open from noon and serves all comers late into the night.For example, while I wined and dined there, the local parish priest arrived with a party of eight visitors just 30 minutes before midnight and they were made very welcome. This is very much a restaurant frequented by locals and is off the beaten path for visitors. Indeed, the locals, whether dropping in to dine or just enjoy the atmosphere over a bottle of wine, were very friendly and welcoming. There are many attractives features about this very Italian trattoria. While it typically serves pastas and pizzas, it offers some very tasty alternatives. On my first visit, I had fish for one of the courses, while on my second visit I was able to enjoy a wild boar pasta. I mention a second visit. I enjoyed my first evening there so much that I booked a local b & b in Albino to enable me make a return visit a week later, have another enjoyable meal and be close to Bergamo Airport. Rosso di Sera has three very special treats that I would recommend. Andreaâs bruschettas, with their variety of toppings, are among the best you will find in Italy. Secondly, donât miss out on the house tiramisu which is among the very best I have had anywhere. Thirdly, unusually for an Italian trattoria, Andrea has draught Guinness on tap and, after his years in Dublin, knows how to present the perfect pint. Added to all this is a cheerful host who will greet you in Italian or English, aided by his charmng front-of-house manager, Sabrina. I found both food and wine to be very reasonably priced, and wine is served by both bottle or glass. If you have a car and are touring near Bergamo, a stop for lunch or dinner on the outdoor deck at Rosso di Sera will not disappoint. I will be going again.

It was a very nice occasion to discover this nice chef that was representing recently Lombardi in an Italian contest and won.Good regional food and good atmosphere. The Chef is not only excellent but is also a person with many talents outside cooking such as singing and finding day of customer birthday. A place to recommend.

Sono stata a cena in questo ristorante con altre tre persone di sabato sera in agosto, abbiamo prenotato e siamo riusciti a trovare un tavolo molto carino in giardino.Location: Il ristorante si trova a Cene, facilmente raggiungibile in auto, ma meno facile parcheggiare perché di parcheggi ce ne sono pochi nei dintorni.L'interno non l'ho visto perché abbiamo avuto la fortuna di cenare di fuori ed è veramente molto bello e con un atmosfera tranquilla: con candele e teli in mezzo agli alberi.E' molto carino lo spazio giochi recintato per i bambini, ubicato non troppo vicino ai tavoli per non dare fastidio ai clienti.Arredamento ben curato.Menù: io ho assaggiato "Affettato di spada e tonno su cruditeâ di verdure" e "Scampi e gamberoni ai ferri", mentre gli altri hanno preso: "Foiade con i porcini", "Tortelli di spinaci al branzino in crema dolce di porri e code di scampi", "Tortelli al salmone", "moscardini e piovra marinati", "Zuppetta di pesce con crostoni di pane", "Filetto al pepe verde", una focaccia. Come dessert invece: gelato, meringata, un semifreddo, una torta di pere e cioccolato; oltre all'acqua abbiamo preso un vino Saten, caffè.Porzioni abbondanti, cibo molto buono, direi che ho scelto molto bene e ne sono rimasta soddisfatta, solo il dolce non mi ha entusiasmato.Servizio: Siamo state seguite da una ragazza dello staff veramente molto gentile, simpatica e preparata, che ci ha saputo anche consigliare al meglio.Conto: in quattro abbiamo speso 173,00 euroCi ritornerò? Osteria Del Piajo is the restaurant connected to the wonderful Piajo Hotel. I have enjoyed lunch here on two occasions (a year apart) both in the middle of summer when the surrounding mountainside is green and lush and the high temperatures compliment the cold wine. On both occasions the food has been exceptional, a simple menu excellently prepared and presented. Definitely worth a visit.

At Nasturzio I've had a variety of visual, olfactory, and gustatory experiences.The quality of the "unusual" food, and how it is prepared and presented, is something really delicious.The chefs are super, as well the staff at the tables who are nice and professional at the meantime.The price is ok, also.Plus, I like a lot the minimal look of the restaurant, where you have to be concentrated on the dishes.

I am surprised by the quality of this establishment in such a small village. Service is superb. We received very detailed translation of all in the menu. Flawless service. In addition to the A la carte menu, they have season's tasting menu and sea food testing menu. Even though far from the sea, trusting the restaurant's word that ingredients were superb fresh, we chose sea food. Indeed it was. Please see some photos. Started off with frizzante white wine (Italian Champagne), continued with Chardonnay and finished with Pinot. We got a generous offer of desserts and grappa. Definitely my choice of restaurant anytime in the region. I am marking the atmosphere average only because Sunday night restaurant was empty. Otherwise, it is a nice building with high ceilings and classical decoration.

We had been skiing a week in Paso del Tonale and wanted on our way back to the Malpensa airport to eat lunch at a traditional local restaurant where the environment is relaxing, the service is friendly and the food is cooked with love. This is exactly what we found at Monte Cura. The best food we had that week! We had their menu of the day and just let them surprise us with lots of different dishes. All food and I mean all was home made. Thanks för giving us this great experience and we can only recommend this place for couples, families and bigger companies.
