This restaurant does very little to advance Italian cuisine in France. It was a public holiday and the planned restaurant (French) was closed. More's the pity. Strangely in the Place Jean Jaures or close by there were several Italian style restaurants open and no French ones. Exceedingly average service and very average Italian food. Sad because the location and appearance made one think this is the best in the area. Appearances in this case were deceptive. Don't bother.We are sorry that you have not been very satisfied.We have very good quality products from Italy.We went to test the products directly in Italy at the producers.Our dishes are homemade.May be looking forward to seeing you again

We drove up and were a bit put off because there were no other customers. I went inside and was warmly greeted by Adriano. The pizza was delicious. Service was very good. Highly recommend.

Giuseppe is a great waiter and knows how to turn on the Italian charm.The pizza, salad and coffee were all fine and the limoncello extra was a nice theatrical touch. It was only on the way out that we saw the Certificate of Excellence sticker. Pity about all those people who complain of interminable delays; we had none of that problem.

Went here based on TripAdvisor reviews and was pleased we did. Great pizzas cooked in a wood burning oven. Reasonable prices of the food and pichets of wine. Walking up the street from the town centre, we wondered if we had our directions wrong as there are no other eateries along here. But keep going - worth the short walk. The pizzas come in two sizes - only choose the bigger ones if you are VERY hungry!

Pizza itself is not bad but salty, service is very slow and there was unacceptable behavior: we ordered one kind of lasagna, and after 30 minutes they brought another one ,we asked them to bring the one we ordered . After 30 minutes we got another frozen lasagna...we refused to take it ( it was really almost frozen) ..but in the bill it was indicated that lasagna is ( free )...what it did mean ? I couldn't understand . We didn't get that ( free ) lasagna despite waiting for one hour ..what a shame ! It is not accepted even in (one star) restaurant. I don't think that I'll come back there again.

Quand je lis certains avis négatifs cela me fait bondir ! Oui le Novello est un restaurant italien sans prétention à la carte classique. Oui la déco est authentique et sent bon lâItalie. Oui câest lâun des restaurants les mieux notés de Saint-Etienne, et alors ? On ne lui demande pas dâêtre un étoilé, de faire des pizzas de 36cm, ou encore des associations incroyables dignes du guide Michelin...simplement dâêtre bien accueillis, de bien y manger, dans un cadre et une ambiance sympa et câest toujours le cas grâce au couple de propriétaire Ivo et Angèle ! Alors un conseil, si vous cherchez un resto sympa sur Sainté, vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés en prenant beaucoup de reculs sur les avis négatifs vraiment très peu constructifs etnon représentatifs du lieu Des clients fidèles et toujours ravis

I was staying at the nearby Novotel & needed dinner. This was a short walk away with nice outdoor seating. Dinner was quite good - typical Italian fair. I had veal something or other. Service was friendly & efficient.
