Visited them , we were seven seated. We ordered three pizzas , 01 burger and 03 steaks from the menus .The three pizzas arrived at the same time , nearly 05 minutes later the steaks and about 05 minutes later the one burger . Everyone was happy with their food . When one goes out for supper the aim is to enjoy all the food at the same time and together.The planning should have been better to ensure all get their food at the same time. I was much disappointed in my pizza , , their was not much crumbed fetta , I ordered extra mushrooms but could hardly find them . With pricing at this establishment being what they are there should be no need to be skimpy.Don't think I will visit them again if the choice depends on me

Today was my third visit to Casalinga in 20 years. They are nothing if not consistent - every meal reminded me of school canteen food. The starter, fish soup, did not taste fresh. The fish was overcooked and dry. The main course, fillet steak ordered medium rare, was ice cold in the centre and dry and tough on the outside. I did not even taste the dessert - supposedly a pavlova. In my book pavlova consists of crisp meringue with a chewy centre, topped with cream and (preferably) fresh fruit. I was presented with weeping beaten egg white (proof it wasnât remotely fresh), topped with something that may have been artificial cream (it looked too white to be real, but who knows?) and a mixture of wilted and cooked fruit. It was difficult to thank our host with a straight face. And the service? Inconsistent, but generally too many people interrupting too often. There are better places for a Sunday lunch. This restaurant was superb, both for food and professional service. The menu provided variety for out party of 4 adults (1 vegetarian) and 2 teenagers. Two of us ordered the evening special, one chicken dish and the other a ribeye on the bone. There was also a very nice wine selection and a very nice dessert menu. 5 stars to the chef and the staff for a very memorable first visit! Parking is validated which is a nice advantage too!

A friend and I had lunch at Café del Sol. Being winter, we chose to be seated inside. We thought we had decided on our food choice when the waiter took us through the specials of the day - we both changed our minds and ordered the bacon and brie fillet. Wow, it was superb - tender meat under baked brie and surrounded by crispy bacon - a feast of tastes! This place promotes itself as a premium restaurant. Don't be fooled by the fake advertising. Its noisy and overpriced. We went for an evening with business partners. We could hardly talk to each other as the noise level in the restaurant as determined by a Cell noise level app was 86 decibels. That's like sitting by a very noisy road.The food was very average. My T-Bone stake was nothing more than a Rump with bone on two sides. Roast potatoes were soggy and the puree completely missing. All this for R350.00!! Rip off. When I complained to the floor manager he simply did not comprehend that a T-Bone stake should have meat on both sides of the T.The cutlery on the tables was basic canteen standard. I would have had a better experience at a franchise restaurant at a third of the price.

Went here for a meal with my wife and it was such a great experience. It was a Sunday afternoon and we we decided to return to this restaurant after have a good meal here a few months ago. Our waitress was top notch. She was attentive but not obtrusive. Our starters and meals were perfect. We had the calamari starter which is one of the best I have had. The buffalo mozzarella pizza is also really good (but we did wonder if it was real buffalo mozzarella)The Florentine steak is also a winner and I would recommend it to any meat lover. It all started well. The interior looked fun, quirky and arty and the chef/owner was friendly and hands-on. The starters were all delicious - our group had the fish cakes, springbok carpaccio and fried haloumi. For mains the T-bone was beautifully done and the pesto pasta good. My porcini risotto, however, was far too rich and porridgy and the pork belly was miles too sweet. I want to recommend to the owner that he adds a few healthier alternatives to the menu. Many modern patrons will take issue with all the rich food, fried starches and highly sugared items. The service was slow and rather absent. Would I go back? Probably not. Always a treat. Arguably Joburg's finest Italian-inspired eatery, serving classic Italian dishes, some with a local flair, and a few other international fine-dining offerings. The risotto is an absolute triumph, as is the gnocchi. The Porcini chicken with pea risotto as a Secondi will rival the quality of any Tuscan Michelin-star offering, and the roasted butternut ravioli with Porcini-Truffle cream and candied walnuts is perfection personified. Desserts are inspirational. The pavlova is incredibly special, as is the Salted Caramel Brûlée with popcorn Gelato. Expect fine dining, beautiful decor, prices that are slightly higher than the norm (although very reasonable if one considers the serving sizes and the quality), impeccable service and a fantastic wine list and drinks menu, with reasonably priced cocktails. This is a top-class establishment serving only the finest of Italian pastas, meats, seafood, desserts and drinks. Not only one of Joburg's finest, but one of the finest Italian eateries South Africa has to offer. Café Del Sol Classico is an institution.
