Reviewed By PlatinumForeverDUSI stayed two nights and was really surprised about quite some features which should not be at all standard - at least not based on my last twenty plus years experience traveling in CN and Asia. I have never experienced tables in a Shangri-La lobby fully of cigarette butts not been cleaned for hours - the same was valid for the ash trays next to the elevators which at least have not been cleaned between my arrival and my departure (1.5 days). Service in the breakfast restaurant was also not high end - neither was the service in the gym. Maybe the hotel is overloaded or overwhelmed by tourist groups during that period in the year. As a business traveller, I would even not grant the hotel a Traders grade - it is really a put as so far I had many good experiences with Shangri-La Group all over China and in Singapore as well. Management may have to reassess the entire value proposition ...

Reviewed By Marco BThe Hotel is good. The staff friendly and very supportive. However the wireless is very bad. The food offered are very boring. The buffet has always the same food. Nothing new. Everyday the same. The Spa is not worth paying for. No qualified staff available. To go in the city you need a Taxi. Which isn’t a problem though. The Hotel staff organize it quickly.

Business Trip - Good clean 4* hotel with good ameneties and quiet.
Reviewed By peterwatson2016Went there last week and stayed three nights. The Reception understood how to get us checked in fast - two Chinese one Singaporean and two westerners. Rooms were quiet clean and the food is good. Restaurant breakfast included in the price which was just over $110 a night for a double with free wi-fi which worked flawlessly. Good overall value for money and we will stay there again.

Reviewed By Samantha S5 minutes walk to dongguan street (food street) and another opposite direction, it would be the slender west lake. Along the same row of hotel there is kentucky fried chicken (kfc) opens till 11pm. There are also western coffee cafes around the corners, just need to explore a little in that road junction. Booked a business king size bed at USD26. The bed is hard, pillows are hard too. Bedsheets are clean, room light a little dim. Provided towel, tooth brush, mini tooth paste, hair dryer, shower gel but no shampoo. Aircond alright but somehow keep switching off, maybe its on timer which i can't read the mandarin aircond controller. Overall acceptable for the price paid. About ¥26 taxi ride to from north bus station to this hotel.

Charming old world feeling
Reviewed By 56KnowledgeHunter56We stayed in late April 2018 and I am wondering why there is such a difference between the grand buildings and the food service. Originally it was the home of a merchant, and today it is a hotel. But two things that every traveller rank high on their list are electrical safety and food. It would not be hard to check the labels on switches - on lights beside the bed, for bathrooms etc - these need to be accurate. Other wise its just so annoying. My local Chinese friends wee not impressed with any of the food served - meals or breakfast. I am Australian. I have been a backpacker and a have eaten at some very low cost establishments. But this was inexplicably horrible. Stay here, but do not eat here. The street outside has the expected touristy things aimed at locals. Candy floss, tea and even duck. Keep walking, pop down a back alley and find less of a mass production. We left the tourist street and found several good restaurants. Also, I walked a couple of km ( fascinated by the people enjoying the fair like atmosphere), and found a great massage place. They were upset that I wasn't a local (no future business, I guess). But with my zero Chinese, these happy friendly people managed to work the kinks out of my travel weary back. Better than a physio.
