Top 10 hotels in Tybee Island, United States

July 1, 2022 Leonarda Pillsbury

As a beachside retreat, Tybee Island brings together old and new – clapboard cottages and Bermuda- precisely that soft blend of natural marshes and Atlantic shoreline, modest history and seaside playground that makes Tybee a celebrated family vacation destination. At the south end of the island, the pier and pavilion stretches into the Atlantic, tempting people watchers and fishermen intent on capturing the ‘fish story’ catch of the day. And the authentically refurbished lighthouse and five-acre grounds and outbuildings remind us of her role in guiding mariners to the Savannah River for nearly 300 years. It is precisely that soft blend of natural marshes and Atlantic shoreline, modest history and seaside playground that makes Tybee a celebrated family vacation destination.Locals can’t compete with crimson sunsets, wading herons or silky sand dunes; but they roll out dining hospitality, shopping convenience and fun modes of transportation. You’ll find casual waterside restaurants and loftier southern inn-style fare, with fried green tomatoes every bit as popular as delicious servings of fresh fish. You’ll want to join the line-up at The Breakfast Club for mouth-watering omelets and southern grits. Wander to shops and galleries, along the marshes and shoreline in a fun, open air Tybee Cruiser. They’re eco-friendly, electric transportation to liven your tour around the island– but be sure to make a reservation. Just 18 miles and 20 minutes away, Savannah offers a virtual silver platter of Southern heritage, arts, entertainment and exceptional dining. Gather family and friends and plan a lovely day of exploring cobblestone streets, shaded historic squares and parlor-room hospitality! Be sure to include the City Market for a remarkable mix of artist lofts, musical entertainment, boutique shopping and more.

The hotel and room was basic and nice. The breakfast was perfect for my husband and me. My only complaint is my husband had his cellphone stolen out of the room when we went to dinner with friends. We traced his cellphone at an employees house. We put a note on the door of their house to return the phone or call the police. The cellphone returned to the hotel 2 days later.

Stay Away

This was by far the worst experience we have ever had. No hot water for the shower, breakfast’s were so unhealthy. No eggs, just mound of dough with berries and syrup. When we complained about the lack of hot water the first night, owners said we should have called them, which we did. The second night, we got back late and took a shower, again problem not solved. All I can say is stay away not only from this property but the entire island! NO CHARM HERE!!

The Georgianne Inn & Suites

New just added wonderful Pool that is Heated/Cooled. You will step back in time upon entering this spacious historic Tybee raised cottage originally built in 1910. Transformed into The Georgianne Inn during 1921, this beach home has undergone many changes but has never lost the sense of nostalgia it evokes. Situated just 3 houses back from the sand and surf, this estate will give you a sense of how things used to be on Tybee Island. Even though The Georgianne Inn is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, it is close to downtown Tybee and the stunning Pier and Pavilion. No need to drive for great dining, it’s just a quick walk to a wide variety of restaurants, attractions and nightlife.

Good place, terrible parking

Reviewed By nessae2022

My family and I stayed in one of the condos offered by this hotel. The place was clean and nice, and close to the beach which was very convenient. The only downfall is the parking. It’s a very small space in which it seems to have way too many cars allowed for parking. On a slow day, you’re usually just dealing with a tight space. On a busy day, it’s almost impossible to pull in or out with the placement of the other cars. If you have anything more than a sedan, you’ll be running into some problems.

Don’t go, save your money!TERRIBLE!!

Booked this hotel on line with booking.com based on travel guide which described the rooms as a “hoot”! We weren’t laughing when we got there Owners were down right rude on arrival . Room was dirty, cracked tiles in the bathroom, rotting sink unit, dirty toilet. We had a red heart shaped hut tub! We didn’t know this when booking. A hoot? No! Just dirty ! The brown plastic steps leading into it didn’t help! There was just one bulb in the room coming from a lamp. The three bulbs in the overhead fan light were all missing . When we complained to the owners and asked for a hairdryer we were told they weren’t there because people stole these from the room ! We were given a hairdryer and told maintenance would have to sort out the light bulb problem the next day. The lady did give me some light bulbs but I told her, just by looking at them they wouldn’t fit, and they didn’t . Maybe the light bulb problem was deliberate so you couldn’t see the dirty room! It was a rip off and not a cheap one at $262.00 Don’t go! These owners don’t care :have no pride and won’t do anything to improve this property as proved by the state of it!

The Royal Palm Motel is a small family owned and operated motel that is located one block from the ocean on Tybee Island. It is an old, but well maintained property. All of our rooms include a fridge, microwave, mini coffee pot, bathroom, TV with cable, and air conditioning. We have a 20'X40' swimming pool. We strive to maintain a family style atmosphere, so we do not allow parties, loud music, or overcrowding of rooms. Parking is free, but limited to one vehicle per room.We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. We have a 2 night minimum for reservations any time and a 3 night minimum during holiday periods.Sorry, but pets are not allowed in the rooms or on the beach on Tybee Island.

Loved the vibe!

We stayed here for a night while in the area - love love love this little motel! The retro vibe was super cool. Room was clean and comfortable. The pool was on the roadside, but nice and as relaxing as it could be due to location. Well staffed and we felt safe - a great value for the price! Walking distance to the beach and many other nearby points of interest. Highly recommend! We will be back :)
