Top 10 hotels in Siena, Italy

August 7, 2022 Sheron Bogner

This Tuscan hill town will transport you back to the Middle Ages. Siena's grand cathedral, built in the 1200s, has treasured artworks and marvelous marble floors. The Piazza del Campo, the main town square, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's also home to the Palio, perhaps the most infamous horserace in the world. No goofy hats and mint juleps here—this is a medieval tradition involving bareback riders racing on cobblestones (so as you might imagine, it's quite dangerous). Siena is an easy daytrip by train from Florence, just 43 miles away.

Fine stay at Relais degli Angeli except breakfast

Reviewed By ShirazSun

My wife and I spent 4 very pleasant nights here during May 2022. Our room was both comfortable and beautiful. The staff were friendly, fun, and exceptionally helpful. My only criticism was the breakfast whick lacked healthy options (e.g., only cereal was corn flakes) and was, well, boring. We understand this facility had an excellent buffet prior to covid and hope it reinstates it soon.

+ top location, amazing views, spacious room, free parking, very helpful staff on the desk - breakfast is poor, for example- in season of cherry and strawberries they serve kiwi and pineapple , there is not liquid honey, only with wax and is really not good when you have your tea., also the staff there is unhelpful and ungracious. Except this, our stay was wonderful and we will choose the hotel again.

The views and the people were spectacular

Reviewed By davecA5702LI

My wife & I stayed @ Castello delle Quattro Torra from Tuesday, 05/21/22, through Saturday, 05/24/22, in the Blue Room. Upon arrival, after ringing the bell, the massive castle doors were opened by a young lady, Gioia ("JOY-yuh") who turned out to be the daughter of the couple who own the castle Gioia proceeded to load our luggage onto a cage tied to an electric lift that hoisted our bags 60 or 70 feet up through the open inner courtyard to a window through which she swung the entire load to deposit it in the open living area of the main level. She then signed us in and gave us an extensive tour of the place while pointing out interesting and unique characteristics of the 800+ year old structure. She also pointed out a "private" area where her grandmother (Nonna) lives. We met Nonna later when, along with a woman who works at the castle, served us breakfast every morning. Gioia's poise and grace had us guessing that she was in her mid-20s at least, but it turns out that she was 16 years old - a gracious and poised young lady. I should add that the family owns not only the castle, where Gioia's father grew up, but a farm and vineyard where they live and have a farm-to-table restaurant, Ristorante Le Pietre Vive, where we had dinner that first night and where we were served by Gioele, Gioia's brother who was equally mature, poised and professional and, besides, had a superb knowledge of local vino which we sampled at length. All-in-all, our stay "with" the Guerrini family was very memorable and included views to die for of the Tuscan countryside and the Siena skyline from the windows of our suite. Don't miss this place!

Pleasant place with the views

Reviewed By leoasin1

A very pleasant small hotel with a well maintained garden. Perfect location when traveling on the car. Large Coop Firenze supermarket (arguably one of the best supermarkets in Italy) is less than 1 km away. Comfortable clean rooms and attentive staff. Good view of the Siena from the top of the garden. It is not far from the center but one needs to walk through deserted and uninteresting areas - does not make sense. It is better to drive and park the car next to the center. We did not have any problems finding parking...

A beautiful hotel

Reviewed By matthewsG9207LP

This is the third time we have stayed in this beautiful hotel, the last time was 20 years ago, and the wonderful Francesca was there then! The hotel has lost some of its original grandeur, but it’s still a gem. The rear garden, with its beautiful view is a special place to enjoy a drink in peace. Our room was #1, over looking the garden, with beautiful and original hand painted vaulted ceilings. The room was generous and comfortable. No issues with anything at all. What’s sad is that the restaurant has closed, due to staffing shortages, but it’s easy to find places to have breakfast and dinner. Overall, a great place to stay, and we will be back!

Hotel Certosa di Maggiano

In Tuscany, 1 Km from Siena immersed in an uncontaminated countryside you find a XIV century Carthusian monastery, La Certosa di Maggiano turned into a Relais et Chateaux Hotel in 1978. An enchanting place, a light and natural luxury masterfully interpreted by the famous architect and interior designer, Renzo Mongiardino. A clear architecture with interiors rich in history dressed with impalpable silks and ornamental paintings & skillfully integrated within the natural and cultural environment. In line with this life born for silence and prayer, la Certosa di Maggiano offers today a set of services and activities aimed to improve your overall state of physical and spiritual wellness. A state of mind so well interpreted by the restaurant "Il Canto" and its Chef Paolo Lopriore, whose cuisine is another multi-sensorial journey which perfectly match our quest for life style, beauty & nature.

The location is good too being 30 minutes walking distance to the centre of Siena. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Siena
