Nice hotel, no longer has a big pool
Reviewed By ASwendWe stayed four nights for a wedding at the hotel. We really enjoyed the property and the staff was very nice. Food was excellent and service so nice. There is a nice fitness center with good equipment. Be aware, the large swimming pool you see in many review photos, no longer exists. It has been remodeled to an open patio/courtyard. The current pool is really quiet small,. This wasn’t a big deal for us but if the pool photos are a big draw for you, take note! We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again regardless if we were going to a wedding there.

Worn-out Hotel
Reviewed By Y4049QWcarlossEver since Barceló bought this hotel, things have been going down hill from there. Seems like the change really did come at a bad time, considering covid and all. My wife and I stayed here in April and we noticed that they have started to assign only the bottom floors. They also only assign the the rooms that face the city and leave out the rooms with volcano view. Maybe they only give them out to customers who don't book with discounts, which would explain why we had such a lack of attention to detail in our stay. The room was not nice, the minibar was empty (although we did have the fridge connected in the room). They used to offer courtesy drinks at stikers bar and now they stopped doing so. The hotel looks worn-out, carpets, towels and linnen. My towel was so thin that felt like it was going to get torn. Cuttlery at the restaurant was aweful too. Overall I didn't enjoy the feeling I got while staying here since I couldn't help comparing it with the "hotel" I've been visitin for over 5 years now. I recommend management to do something about it asap.

The hotel is in a perfect location with direct access to the Metrocentro Mall and many other things to do in this amazing city. The staff and front desk were extremely courteous and helpful. The hotel was extremely clean and very equipped with social distancing signage and hand sanitizer stations throughout the hotel. Room: My husband and I are InterContinental Ambassadors, so we received a guaranteed upgrade. The room itself had a wonderful view of the city and the Metrocentro Mall. It still remained super quiet in spite of the close proximity to the shopping centers. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was very modern, and the shower/tub had great water pressure. My only complaint was that the water temperature often varied from lukewarm to hot depending on the time of day. Onsite Dinning: The onsite restaurants were okay for last minute dinning, but nothing was memorable considering the price. During our stay, we dined at the Faisca do Brasil and Picasso. The other restaurant Nau lounge was closed during our stay. Again, if you are looking for better fine-dining options, try Brutto El Salvador, La Gastroteca, or La Melangerie. In addition, do not be afraid to dine at some of the delicious local restaurants in the city center. Pool/Gym/Spa: The pool and gym were both small but workable and the spa services were magnificent and really great for the value. My masseuse was magnificent, and the spa treatments were PERFECT! Just make sure you book your treatments upon arrival because spa slots fill up quickly. Overall, the hotel made our stay in San Salvador extremely comfortable. I do believe that while some improvements to the dining options can be made, the hotel overall is quite solid and the hotel’s location cannot be beat. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.

Poor check in and service recovery
Reviewed By EdMotionWhen I checked in, they knew full well that I am an ambassador status in the marriot programme. (This is the highest, after having achieved platinum life and titanium) still they did not have the usual suite upgrade for me, they actually gave me a room that you get as a walk in guest, except this was on the so-called club floor where the view is blocked from anything interesting. I gave them three days to correct my situation but not even a response from the managers. If you are on the marriot programme don’t bother staying here. It’s not near anywhere and you get treated poorly.

Reviewed By TravelChoseAThe staff was very friendly. I felt very safe. However, I did find the rooms to be quite outdated. The breakfast was pretty good. The pool was beautiful but had quite a lot of dead insects in it, so I could not use it. The landscape is up to par and clean. It is within walking distance of a few shopping and eateries.

Comfortable beds, super clean, delicious breakfast, and located close to everything. Thank you Grace, Karla ,Daniel and staff for making sure that our stay was a memorable experience.
