Good for one night
Reviewed By ElenaP2205The hotel is good for one night stay....and we made the mistake to get frozen by staying 2 nights here. Positive: very clean, some rooms are nice, colonial building. Negative: in the fotos the hotel seems better than in the reality. Some rooms are really small and because I've insisted I get a large room. During the night in the room is getting very cold, they said they couldn't offer some warm water for preparing a tea, the water from the shower is almost cold...so there is no way to warm just to sleep (and forget where you are). The breakfast is basic (basic coffee, juice, eggs,bread). In the first day we received also butter and jam, in the second they didn't offer these.

Reviewed By BallnerUnfortunately I had to cancel my stay at Dann Monasterio - at 10.00 am on the arrival day. Usually you would have to pay 100% cancellation fee ..... NOT at this hotel. They were so helpful and didn’t charge not even 1 Peso. This is very rare in those times ...! Thank you very much for your understanding and your kindness. I will definitely recommend this hotel and stay there hopefully in the near future!

The hotel itself was a beautiful colonial style building, it was centrally located, inside was cozy and nicely decorated, and the staff was super welcoming and helpful. If you’d prefer something authentically Colombian rather than a western style hotel this is a good spot.

Good hotel in not such a good location
Reviewed By no818528Ok, lets start with the positives. Having tried many hotels in Popayan, this one is very good. Taking into account the low price, makes it a little more appealing. My room, a single was a whopping $15. It was clean and had hot water! Breakfast is extra for $2! However, breakfast closes at 8:45 am so you need to be sharp if you want some eggs! None of the rooms have air conditioning but that is okay for the evening temp in Popayan. You get one towel per person (don't bother asking for extra towels), and a bottle of liquid soap. What do you expect for the price you are paying? The hotel is clean and the staff are very pleasant. Ok, now the negative! The hotel is not a great part of town. It isn't surrounded by short stay hotels and of an evening you will see street walkers; women and men. I would not walk around this areas after the sun goes down. All in all, I would still recommend it, if you are careful. Cannot be the price, and cleanliness is a huge factor. Just do not turn right, when you leave the hotel.

Soulless hotel - better outside than inside!
Reviewed By VickyU627I guess this might be the only place to stay in Popayan- though there’s not much to see here and we were just breaking the journey. It looks promising with two large courtyards but our ground floor room was more Like a cell with a large bed, white walls and one dark picture. And a courtyard opening window that need curtains or everyone could look in, adding to the darkness. The bathroom however was modern and good. Tried to get a beer from the restaurant. No dice. Getting a drink in Popayan is actually very difficult as it seems to be full of cafes and not much else. Even dinner is hard work. The breakfast was perfunctory and soulless. In fact the whole place was impersonal and disappointing. A one night if you must kind of place

Reviewed By rosiekateburnsGood location but no hot water and our room was looking over a school who were playing really loudly in the playground at 7am. Literally felt like we were inside the school. No lift despite being 3 floors up and the breakfast was really bland and boring. V average.

Reviewed By tkohl13This is a decent hostel for the price. The rooms are relatively small, but they are very clean. There is a small common area and a communal kitchen. The free breakfast is delicious, and the location is perfect. The only issue is that the walls are thin, and the staff seemed to be very loud at night.

Reviewed By Jorge GIf you're on a budget, you can find a decent place to sleep here. Do remember: no luxury, no air conditioning, no space, bit noisy, but clean and relatively new. The no air conditioning variable is definitely harsh, since it gets really got. Personally, I would not stay there again.

Reviewed By Tiffany KNo hot water. Uncomfortable beds. Very young staff seemed not to have any experience in hospitality only able to help with the very basics. Wifi is poor so we had to sit outside to use it. The rooms and bathroom are in poor condition with broken skylight and dirty walls needed painting. The location is fairly close to the plaza but is on a busy street. It's quiet in the rooms above 200, as they are more interior. There's a sitting area in the third patio area that has good wifi. Unfortunately everywhere else has very poor wifi.

Reviewed By PsicadeliumI should have spotted the disco next door before checking in. Avoid this place if you want to get a good night of sleep. Not happy about personnel not warning me about the disco next door. There are many nicer and quieter places in the centre of popayan. Stay clear.
