Great place to stay

It is a great hotel, family and pet friendly, the rooms are beautiful and very comfy. Also the food is well served. The only thing I expected was a climatized pool, because that’s what they told us when we called, it wasn’t cold though. Great experience.

Amomoxtli

Amomoxtli is a beautiful estate with luscious gardens, incredible views to the Tepozteco and a serene atmosphere hard to find in Tepoztlan. Rooms have luxurious beds with Egyptian cotton bedclothes, food is served with local flair, numerous spots are perfect for practicing yoga and having massages arranged by the hotel manager, who also helps coordinating tours and transportation.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed at! If you want pure relaxation, this is the place to go. Exceptional service from all the employees but we wanted to give a special shout out to Anna, Hérman and our guide for the Temazcal, Olivia. They made our experience that extra special and personable. But the whole team at the hotel deserves praise because from the moment you arrive at the hotel, everyone is so welcoming and attentive to the guests. The food at the hotel (dinner, breakfast, and snacks by the pool) is excellent, the bedrooms are so comfortable and stylish, and the spa and pool area/garden surroundings are just sublime. I can’t wait to come back to Amomoxtli! What a gem only 90 minutes’ drive outside of CDMX.

2 day trip

In general we enjoyed our stay however there were a few things that I did not expect for a 5 star hotel: - the 2nd swimming pool that the hotel has was not really cleaned even though it was open. Not having the filters running in that swimming pool was disappointed given that this was the pool that was not heated, which we would have liked to use at 32 degrees Celsius. - We had the cleaning stuff bursting into the room at 8:30 in the morning on our last day. It’s not the first time this happens to me in a Mexican hotel, however that doesn’t make it any better. I think as a guest you should have the option to decide when you want to wake up - The hotel itself is beautiful and is part of a gated community which makes it really safe, however the road to it is a disaster.

Good premises & restaurant. Terrible to rest and Questionable Safety

Reviewed By DEIN_VATER

The hotel is sold as "Retreat, relax, zen, etc." which nothing of that is real. On our first night a group of drunk people were partying at the pool from 2am to around 5am, drinking and shouting at all. We tried to report them but got no answer from reception and security was null. We tried to dissuade these people but they only became more violent. The next morning we reported with other guests the incident to the manager - Maira Garza - and she just justified that her shift was until 11pm and security was in charge after that... so.... sorry.. Another night, out load music from a room in our same premises. Same story with not response from reception but this time several guests went to get security, who after several hours arrived at dawn. So... nice premises, good restaurant, ZERO rest at night and Questionable safety. I think there area better and cheaper options that actually stand their service promise

What a wonderful place!

My in-law family, husband and I stayed over at Casa Francisco during the 2021 Christmas holidays. This hotel has two sections, the old and the new. We stayed in the new section, floor 2, which was slightly more expensive. The entire building combines colonial vibes and modern comfort. Our room faced the pool, but I could not hear the noise from the people swimming and hanging around that area. Every single surface was very clean, and the ambiance invited relaxation. The hotel is located at walking distance from the Sanborns, a large store that includes a pharmacy, a small bookshop, a nice restaurant, electronics store and some other merch. It is also one block away from an important street. However, you will not hear any noise from the street. We received incredible attention from all staff members including everyone at buffet, the quesadilla chef lady, cleaning, reception and door keeping staff. The hotel offered a wide choice of freshly made dishes of high quality. Even my mother in-law, who is an excellent cook, enjoyed all the meals. Lastly, and most importantly, the most impressive aspect of my stay at Casa Francisco was that the staff seem very pleased to work there. It seems the management is doing a great job to keep them busy but happy. Thanks, Casa Francisco, for the wonderful Christmas experience!

Unfortunately badly managed, very nice gardens, great potential, not really pet friendly!

Reviewed By g_nterk224

Hope you can take the time to read this. Super good: very nice gardens and buildings, friendly staff. Very bad: they don’t watch details and are not customer oriented in management. I would not consider this hotel pet friendly! I think especially in Covid times the customer satisfaction should be even more priority no 1 then ever, as you might depend on them in the future even if it is only 2 nights!? Let’s see, what the responsible manager will reply to this, as I offered to speak in person to him 3 times and none of them ever did. I was here with my girlfriend and our little dog. I reserved thru a Internet side and contacted the hotel directly about the possible extra cost of the dog. I stated, that if I don’t get the response till xx time to cancel, I assume, that the dog is for free. They responded in time welcoming us, but the main interest was to let us know the check in and check out times - not mentioning any cost of the doggy. So for me it was clear, that our dog stays for free. When we arrived, they circled all the ‚important‘ things like check out time and that it is 2 adults and no kids. I told them, that they forgot to circle incl. our doggy, as I was writing to them. They were surprised about that information and had to do some calls. It ended up, that they didn’t have a room like booked anymore and we were offered another room with 2 single beds, which I refused as I wanted a king size as reserved. They were sorry not to have a room like this for doggies and also they told me that the cost per night will be 2000 MX$ (+- 100US$) extra for the little dog!! I refused to pay the extra cost due to my email correspondence. I told the (very friendly and engaged) front desk guy that maybe they would like to offer an upgrade to solve the king size problem. He asked me to forward the email conversation about the dog to them (even if they should have it - how embarrassing). As we had a meeting with friends scheduled, we had to leave the luggage there without being checked in. Not nice, but it was ok for us. It was 3:30 pm - the guy offered me to call me latest 3 hours later to find a solution. I don’t know, what would take 3 hours to decide on that - anyway… the call was 4 and a half hours later telling me, that they found a king size room for me. He wanted to hang up quickly, but I asked about the solution for the cost of the dog. He was embarrassed to say, that his manager said, that we still need to pay for the dog 4000 MX$. I refused again and offered again to talk to the manager as well as I asked for another call - which never happened. At 2 in the night we arrived. Sorry for the lady at the front desk - she wanted to charge for our dog again and I intensively explained her, why I will not do it. Somehow I believe she was a bit suprised about my straight point, but she seemed to accept it. Never the less she asked me for an open credit on my card, which I refused. She accepted it and we could move in. In an extremely small room (no. 8022). Yes it had a king size bed but that was it more or less. Somehow I had the feeling, that they made sure we get the worst possible option. The room was nothing like the pictures I saw about the hotel. There were black spots on the ceiling and old cigarette butts on the balcony! Here was only 1 (one!) coffee capsule and we got some water - both was not even renewed the next day! There was no garden view like booked! I travel over 25 years around the world, but for sure that’s not a room of a 4 or even a 5 star accommodation! Is this the standards of Fiesta Americana!? Or their management try to safe a few pennies on coffee or water and try to pay back the customer for their own mistakes!? So sorry dear people who work there, as I had the impression, that you try to give your guests good hospitality. If your management continues like that I‘m afraid about a long term success in this hotel and therefore your job! It’s also up to you to tell your management, that these are no go‘s in this type of hotel for that amount of money customers spend if the management is to blind to see that! As there is not much around the hotel, we had dinner in the central restaurant the 2nd night. Unfortunately, the first disappointment was, that we were not allowed to enter the open space restaurant with our doggy. Imagine paying 2000 MX$ extra for your dog per night, but you can not bring your ‚family member‘ to the restaurant, but then once you are in, you see, that a cat is walking from table to table trying to get a piece of food from the guests!? I just don’t know what to say who made these rules!? About the food - the pasta of my girlfriend was very good. My shrimps with oil and garlic also were delicious. Only the kitchen has a synchronisation problem. The shrimps were freshly prepared, but the vegetables and the rice was cold! Again - in those type of hotels or resorts the customer can expect a close to perfect experience in my opinion. The waiters were extremely friendly and helpful and always gave you the feeling of hospitality. Prices were ok only the beer (the price was not in the - only Spanish - menu) I felt overpriced with 82 MX$. When we checked out, I asked for the bill - they checked and had some conversation, then they told me, that all is ok. So in the end I did not have to pay for our dog, which I think is correct, as they did a mistake not telling me in advance giving me the chance to cancel or to accept the extra cost. But why did we have to go thru such a bad experience and excitement!? One person in management should have taken responsibility to say - ‚super sorry and thank you for giving us the chance to improve our procedures for the future. For this reason I even would like to give you the opportunity to come again e.g. on a special price, or including a free dinner etc.‘ Would have been so easy! It wouldn’t have costed them a penny until I would have showed up again (not so likely as I’m from Europe) - instead, they showed all their weaknesses in management and wanted to pay us back with the worst room they could find!? Well you can assume, that the joy of staying there was very limited. And now they have a very bad recession, which makes it even more difficult to be successful in the future - so sorry, but please also take this as a chance to improve for the future! You have wonderful premises with a great team and a big potential! If you would like to correspond with me directly about this case, please let me know, I’d love to send you my email address - I still have yours from the reception, as the front desk wanted to have a copy of our correspondence!! By the way - only one guy spoke a little bit of English at the front desk and your menu etc all is only in Spanish. If you would like to attract international guests, it would be nice if you enhance your english bits to make it easier for all! Looking forward to read your response! BR
