We stayed 2 nights here and it was perfect. The 5-person room has individually partitioned beds making it perfect for a family with kids (especially if they sleep and wake at different times). Plus, it's on the ground floor, so no lugging suitcases around. Location is very convenient. They do pickups/drop offs at the airport, and it's directly opposite the ferry port - so that doesn't get any closer. Breakfast was included and while not extensive and fancy, it had everything we needed, including fresh ground coffee and home-made iced milk tea. Traditional Taiwanese rice porridge for the locals, and toast eggs ham for the non-locals. The entrance is a dive shop that offered snorkeling and scuba. There's something to be said about the ease of going from your room, to the front desk, scheduling everything, and then going back to the room to get ready. And also, when you're done, just rinsing off and walking straight into your room. No need to worry about photos: for all their activities, they include a photographer. They also had scooter rentals. We didn't have licenses, so we had to rent electric ones which were pricier than the gas ones. Still, scooters are a must to get around the island. Conveniently, whenever we came back to the hotel, they offered us fully-charged scooters to swap out our used ones. Our friends chose a 'boutique' hotel on the north side of the island, but we were glad we stayed here instead. It was closer to the city so we could get dinner easily (and 7-11). While our hotel may not have been as fancy, it was clean and functional: walkable to the snorkeling sites and, the rooms were designed for people who have been at the beach (e.g. bathroom close to the entrance, balconies to dry out swimsuits). Overall, very happy. Will stay again. One tip: Green Island generally runs on cash, and there's only one ATM at the post office, which we were told can run out of cash.

Basic beach hostel accommodation with a great view

Reviewed By Bayjb

Sanasai Inn is a good basic backpacker accommodation option on Green Island. Yes, if is outdated, but if weather is good, you’re not in the room much. Pros: - View of Taitung, the ocean and sunset literally outside - Staff speaks good English. Not everyone speaks it but most do - Located outside of the Main Street so there is no loud evening noise or traffic outside - Bed mattress is thin but pretty comfortable and the bed units are so tall, you can stand in them, and offer good privacy - Air con comes in to the beds through a vent, awesome! - Plenty of showers - Electric scooters are available for rent. Fair price. And they are new and very easy to ride. Really enjoyed them - They will pick you up and drop you off for the ferry Items to be aware of: - It is not near the Main Street so without a car or scooter, it’s about a 20 min walk - The entire lodging is run down. It needs major updates. It’s not uncomfortable or unclean, but old. Especially the kitchen and bathrooms. For the cost, I wish it was a tad nicer - Only one western toilet, so that is always taken - Breakfast is toast and spreads and coffee. None are great. But if you don’t want to walk in to town, that’s an option - WiFi doesn’t have an official network and it seemed a little shady to use. But if you need it, it’s available - The dorms are right by the lobby and reception so it gets LOUD. Reception opens at 8am but it gets loud starting at 6-7am. Not great - Rooms are small, especially the four bed female dorm. There is no real luggage storage and gets very crowded quickly if it’s full Considering this is a beach place, none of these were major dealbreakers for me, especially with the rise in domestic tourism due to Covid. If you’re looking for a place and this has an opening, it’s not a bad option, but just go in eyes wide open. For a night or two, it’s not bad. But if weather is bad, I probably wouldn’t want to hang out here for a prolonged period of time.

Waiting Here B&B

Porch swing, delicious breakfast, knowledgeable hosts, quiet location

Reviewed By ziggiyfrisky

This guesthouse is a jewel beside the oceans. A swing out front to relax and listen to the waves, hermit crabs living in the rock bed nearby, a delicious fresh warm breakfast made ready for you in the morning. On arrival you're welcomed with open arms at the port and given assistance with picking up motorbike. Rooms are clean, beds have fresh linens, owners are available and have a wealth of knowledge about all aspects off Green Island, from where to go to its tidbits about natural history. The interior has a emphasis on Green Island natural history with rocks and shells, which is neat to look at. You're especially apt to find new friends in the lobby with the owner or with other guests. If the winds blow me to Green Island again, I know where I'll be lying my head!

Wonderful!!

We totally enjoyed out stay at House 16 on Green Island. Sandy was so helpful in giving us recommendations and making us comfortable. The young staff is excellent, too. Access to the shoreline is very easy from here, there is a small grocery just across the street, and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend House 16, and we hope to go back there ourselves in the near future. :)

Toro Ocean Front B&B

Green Island (“Lyudao”) is a small volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean, about 33 km (20.5 miles) off the eastern coast of Taiwan. Best place on Green Island!

Everything about this place was perfect. Beautiful, clean room, great view and most of all our host Erin was the best person as she took care of everything for us and made the best breakfast that we could enjoy with our beautiful ocean front view in our room. Also, she took care of the scooter, snorkeling and other requests we had. If I ever visit Green Island again, I will most surely come to this place. Highly recommend!

Good Viewing Spot Bed and Breakfast

Sweet & very comfortable

Reviewed By Jess8888_12

We stayed here for one night. Our Hualien hotel kindly phoned ahead to request a pick-up from the ferry, which worked very smoothly. We were able to then drop off our bags & freshen up , & then rent an e-scooter from the hotel to circumnavigate the island. The host (Tien) was very kind and helpful & conveyed a lot of information to us in English, which we appreciated. The room is just lovely - extremely clean, soft comfy bed with everything we needed for our stay. Can make hot drinks in the kitchen & go upstairs for an amazing view- hence the name of the B & B. We got given vouchers to go a few minutes walk to a lovely breakfast spot - nice eggs & mushrooms, ham & bread. No wifi at the hotel. The only downside was that it was very noisy from the family of the hotel ( or possibly other guests, although we thought we were the only ones there) with loud talking and what sounded like banging into the late evening, as our room opened out into the ground floor main lobby where there was a big screen TV. Once everyone seemed to have gone to bed it was very quiet! It would probably have been a quieter stay in one of the rooms upstairs. We got driven to the ferry in the morning - the pick up and drop offs were all included in the room rate- no extra charge. Would recommend this as a place to stay in Green Island as is a nice location. Close to walk to the Human Rights Park & along the waterfront area.

Moon Castle Diving B&B

Wonderful Boutique Homestay on Green Island!

Reviewed By julianicolesf

Green Island isn't known for having luxurious hotels, but Mooncastle, aka Moon's Diving, is a wonderful boutique-style B&B that we loved staying at during our honeymoon! Our room was bright, colorful, and spacious. There is a huge bathtub in the bay window overlooking an ocean view. The rain shower is modern and the water pressure was good and hot! The only drawback: the bathroom is open, so there is no separation between the bedroom and the toilet, which some people might not be comfortable with. There are curtains, but you're basically going to be pooping in the same room as everyone else is sitting in. My husband and I found a bathroom schedule that worked for us, but it would have been better if the toilet was quartered off; however, the open plan lends to the bright, airy feeling and allows you to enjoy the ocean views from your bed! The breakfast is also wonderful here! Homemade, generous portions, and different options every day (we ate 3 brekkies here), Made with love, I'd say, and you can sit in the kitchen in the morning with music, coffee, tea or juice while your food is prepared. The gentleman who runs this place was super friendly and helpful, and though he did not speak English, you can communicate via LINE with English (though it helps if you can speak a little Chinese). He even gifted us complimentary hot spring tickets since we were on our honeymoon. He also immediately organized scooter rentals for us, and a diving trip for us. There was an informational handout in English and Chinese that we were given upon arrival that made things easier! They provided us with fresh towels every day, and on checkout, we were able to leave our luggage there so we could still enjoy ourselves before catching our ferry home. It's close to the ferry port, so you can just walk to the dock once you're ready to depart! I also can't say enough good things about the diving center and the instructors there. I am a licensed diver, but it was my husband's first time diving ever. Evan was one of our instructors and he spoke great English and explained everything so we felt safe and confident. During the dive, they took photos and videos and it was really fun! One thing that I always worry about when diving in Taiwan is finding a wetsuit that will fit me, because I am a plus-size woman. Their 4x fit me, but it was hard to get on-- despite that, noone ever made me feel ashamed or embarrassed and they helped with getting it on me. I really appreciated how comfortable I felt with the instructors the entire time and highly recommend their dive shop. I hope we can come back and stay again because we had such a wonderful experience here. Worth the money, a wonderful place to stay!
