Very nice and pleasant stay at this hotel
Reviewed By James BThe hotel is very clean not far from the City /Town of Grenaa and very near the coast so easy access to the beach. Food was prepared and presented well various choices of meats and vegetables along with deserts. Most outstanding thing I would like to mention in my review is regarding the Hotel Staff they are the BEST very helpful in every way. They looked after us very well. Not really a service quality hotel
Reviewed By greentea55Front staff - there was an old woman who didn't smile, nor show any customer care spirit at all. A young man was nice though when I checked in. Coffee refills costs 15 dkk?! - I chose not to have a room cleaning next morning. So I didn't get coffee refills. Later the evening went to ask to get some, a woman staff said I had to pay for it. But you're supposed to get free 2 coffee refills -- but because they closed the cashier already, she keeps saying I have to pay for them. I felt like the staff is not very well trained, there is no customer service exists in the hotel. Breakfast - super busy, tables are not cleaned. I had to sit down someone's after-eat-messy table. Food was ok not anything special as I didn't expect anything. It looks like they close the cashier / front desk after certain hours at night. I thought "hotels" would always have 24hrs reception??

You are close to the beach and not far from either Ebeltoft or Grenaa. We were in the area to help celebrate my cousin Venner's birthday. It was nice to be back! Gjerrild Kro and Hotel is a very well run facility, the staff are very friendly and efficient. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. We stayed in the "room wing", a separate building set apart from the main inn. Our room had a kitchen, this would make it ideal for a longer stay. Our stay included a more than ample breakfast, served buffet style. I say ample, the Danish breakfast always offers you more delicious choses than you can eat. A nice dilemma. The hotel, as well as offering accommodation for the weary, in the true spirit of "KRO" hospitality, also offers the traveller or guest, a fine dining experience. What is a Kro? The concept of a Kro originates back to the 13th century. King Erik Klipping decreed that to alleviate the problem of finding rest and comfort for the weary traveller, at every mile there should be an inn that provided food, drink and a place to rest. There you go, Gjerrild Kro and Hotel, you do just that. Congratulations! There is no question in our minds we will be back, and we will seek to have a longer stay. This should not be a problem. PS There is good wifi and there is ample parking.

Fabulous warm welcome for lunch
Reviewed By bobjimfredWe chanced upon this hostel while cycling the coast down towards Grenå. With two tired kids in tow, all a bit tired and hungry, we needed a boost. The host welcomed us into the dining area with open arms and explained with pride that the lunch was "pay what you think it is worth". A nice simple buffet lunch of good food and an incredibly warm welcome. We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed our lunch and then cycled on. We probably paid more than we would have paid in a normal cafe, but it was worth it for the warm welcome.

Spacious family room and great location close to the 7km beach
Reviewed By Guy BWe choosed this hotel for its location and we were not disappointed: we had only to cross the dune to reach the 7 km sand and kid friendly beach. We had a spacious 4 beds rooms for the family, including a kitchen. It was perfectly clean and clear. The breakfast is rather basic but fine. The personnel, although limited to few persons, is very helpful and pleasant. We booked a room in excess and they were very friendly to find a very acceptable cancelling agreement on the spot. It was highly appreciated. Although very clean and well maintained, the hotel would deserve some investment.

A wonderful place
Reviewed By Pia BWe stayed for one night and had such a lovely room with a stunning view. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The atmosphere is really amazing, such lovely hosts and service. We loved this place so much that we booked 2 rooms two months ahead when checking out. So much value for money:-)
