Reviewed By amlemusThe Majestic has a great location right between the Grand Rue and Av. des Alpes and across the street from the train station so you can get anywhere in the city and anywhere around the lake pretty quickly. If there's a room with a lake view and a balcony, absolutely get it and enjoy the perfect views of Lac Leman and sip an espresso in a robe while you do it.

Reviewed By Miles WWhat an outstanding hotel!! We stayed for two nights in a 4th floor junior suite with amazing views over the lake. The room was beautiful - a perfect fusion of modern and historic. It was also huge. If I was to make any minor niggle it would be to invest in better mattresses (I like firm - but everyone is different!) - and the sofa in the lounge area wasn’t the most comfortable - but - really tiny issues! Housekeeping was excellent - the pools are brilliant and breakfast excellent. Service everywhere was superb. Location is unbeatable - and we look forward to coming back!!!

Reviewed By Vivek DThis hotel is an absolute gem. Nominally four star, the physical infrastructure, service, and ambiance are five star. In fact, the hotel's sister properly, the next door Beau Rivage, is one of the world's top five star hotels, and you have signing privileges there and at the other sister property, the Chateau Couchy. You can therefore book a spa treatment at the Beau Rivage, which is highly recommended. There is a two star Michelin restaurant there as well. The Angleterre's own restaurant, L'Accademia, is the best Italian restaurant in Lausanne and is highly recommended. The hotel's location is perfect -- right in the fashionable Ouchy district by the lakeside and less than a five minute walk to the nearby metro station, which connects you to other parts of Lausanne, as well as the train station. If you are looking for leisure and relaxation in Lausanne in an elegant and upscale environment, you can do no better than the wonderful Angleterre. After all, if Lord Byron stayed here, why shouldn't you?

The front desk young lady that received us was not very nice, not smiling, not pleasant to us. The room was not ready although it was after 16:00.

The historical, family-run Splendid hotel in Montreux was built in 1904 and offers panoramic views over Lake Geneva and free Wi-Fi in all of the spacious rooms. The lakeside rooms have their own terrace or balcony. Delicious Swiss and international cuisine is served in the restaurant and the café is a cosy place to relax.The Splendid hotel is Montreux's only 3-star hotel on the lakeside. The conference centre and the train station are close by.

Reviewed By CMLimStayed here for a week in January. The location of the hotel is near to the train station, but is one level down from the station. However, there is a lift for easy luggage movement between the levels between the hotel and the train station. Check-in was smooth and we had a nice chat with the owners. The hotel and the rooms were a little dated, and there was a cheesy/mouldy smell in the hallway, probably due to the old furnishings and carpeting. Having said that, the room was clean and faced the lake, so the view was awesome, especially in the evenings. One thing to note is that since the hotel is vintage, the room is operated by a key and not a card (couple of times we forgot to lock the door). We did not try the restaurant, but the bar downstairs was great for a couple of drinks before turning in for the night. Plenty of food options along the stretch of road where the hotel is located.

Reviewed By Il774Second time at this hotel. Reception is extremely professional, friendly, and super helpful! Hotel itself is great location. Breakfast people, mainly one main middle age/younger guy is quite aggressive, and I recall him from last trip same. I did say something to reception and on last day he was very different… Dinner, we ate once, it is great food even though more expensive than most restaurants… very worth it! First time around, it was also great! BUT again, service… very hectic and aggressive, especially if you do not speak French. For this money it is not acceptable. Again, , just one person who I recall from last trip, is just how he is… but on that particular evening it was too much and its not like he was doing us a favour… we actually pay for our meal… and quite a lot! The girls working there on the other hand, are very professional and exactly how it should be! On our evening dinner, food was served very quickly with that we did not have issues. I would definitely stay again at this hotel but would think twice before having dinner there or even Breakfast… as in Lausanne there are SO MANY AMAZING restaurants and EVERY TIME ALL PEOPLE in the other restaurants are so friendly!!! P.S. I give average service, only because of the restaurant 2 particular staff. NOT because of reception who ware amazing!

Reviewed By PetrD18Really enjoyed my stay here. The staff is very helpful and goes far beyond the ordinary customer service one would expect. The concierge team of Djamila, Christoph and Matt are both supper informative and had some great tips on how to spend my time in and around Lausanne. The view from the rooms is so nice, I found it difficult to leave. Great views of Lac Leman and the French part with the town of Evian. We took the boat across the lake upon Matt's recommendation! Fantastic, thank you! The Spa is definitely worth visiting, full size gym and good size pool to do laps with a sauna and steam room to relax afterwards. Have not had a chance to eat all three restaurants, but the Brasserie makes a great Vienna style Schnitzel. Overall, one of the best hotels i the country!!!
