Reviewed By Mårten OA hotel not far from Recife, but away from the noice. Rather big garden and pool area and it was a nice surprise that they had activities for the Children. For a Scandinavian, it was also good to have some sauna bathing! Quiet place that supports relaxing, situated beside Praia Gaibu were you can take a beach walk if you want some movement. Good quality on the restaurant - well served buffets for breakfast and dinner,and we had an a la carte-dinner that was excellent! Really good cost-benefit for the package deal with dinner included. Somewhat high prices for drinks, though.

Reviewed By FclmelloNew and clean premisses guarantee a very good stay. 15 minutes from the Port of Shape by car. Taxi drives available and around. Attached to the hotel. There is a shopping mall with several shops, supermarket and food court. I didn't try the food in the hotel. The expecion was the breakfast in which is good, but could bring more variety. Staff well trained and very polite. Choose any floor as the hotel is near but not quite close to the shopping mall then has it privacy kept and.no noisy fro cars and people can be heard. High recommendedable for Business trip with stay by only USD 50,00

Reviewed By GBaroniDon't be badly impressed by the surroundings, this is a hidden gem, an oasis of style, good taste, comfort and good food. Besides, the beach is beautiful, and the pousada's backyard is the sand. I'll come back for sure, there are several beaches to visit near Gaibu.

An upgrade was offered, we took it and got confirmation. but when we arrived , they said no other rooms were available and everyone else was blamed for the offer but not them. they did not make any efforts to help or resolve. avoid staying there.

Right on beach but poor accommodation
Reviewed By gowdie71Location right on the sea is superb for a 3 star place. Accommodation however is basic to say the least. The only room with Air Conditioning is the main bedroom. Main living area and other bedroom do not have AC. The windows don't seal making it a haven for mosquitoes and other insects. The wardrobe and drawers all had a damp smell to them. I just kept my clothes in my bag. In terms of security it leaves a lot to be desired, Housekeeping never locked my door one of the days I was out at work and came back to find the door closed but not locked, despite complaining I returned from work next day to find housekeeping had left my door wide open. I would have given a 2 rating but for the security. Internet access is via WIFI which has a good connection. Food from the restaurant is of good quality and well priced

Lovely small hotel right by the beach
Reviewed By d_jackmanOur first experience on arrival in Brasil. This pousada (small hotel) is in an outlying suburb of Recife, about 30 minutes taxi ride from the airport. In a quite lane about 50 metres from the huge beach. At low tide the reef is exposed and there is an abundance of rock pools with various sea creatures to see. Our hostess Rosi is an cheerful and welcomiing person. The room was comfortable with a fridge, A/C and a TV (though Brazilian TV is dreadful!). Breakfast was a real treat, the best of our tour. Rosi made fresh tapioca pancakes (local speciality) and there were different fresh juices (sucos) daily. There was a water-cooler in the dining room any time you needed a top-up. There is a delightful lounge area on the landing fo general relaxation and chat. The small pool was lovely for a quick cool-sown after a walk on the beach. A taxi into the city takes about 30 minutes and was not expensive- Rosi seems to know peoe who can give lifts etc. Recife itself is well worth a day visit or more.

This Pousada Grew On Us
Reviewed By frankmplsWe visited this pousada as part of our FIFA World Cup trip in June 2014. Our initial impressions were not great as the building, rooms and furniture are not up to the standards we found in the larger tourist areas in Rio, Foz do Iguassu, Pipa etc but we were determined to make the most of it. We found the owners and pousada employees to be friendly and they went out of their way to be helpful. For example, they obtained a parking pass for one of the games at the Recife Pernambuco stadium, allowed us to use the office printer to print travel confirmations, and helped us when we had two flat tires on our rental vehicle. We ate breakfast daily and dinner in the dining room on a couple of occasions, and drinks and lunch by the pool, and all the food was good and reasonably priced, with local Brazilian dishes and specialties such as tapioca pancakes. The rooms are small and the cost was a little high but we had booked through FIFA so normal rates would be more reasonable. The location is beautiful - on the beach with plenty of surfing and walking opportunities. The weather was hot and muggy with significant rainfall, particularly at night, typical for that time of year. The pool was clean and very refreshing. This is not a sophisticated tourist area - it is about twenty miles south of Recife and there is not much to do beyond the beach - few people speak English and the accommodation and local town are somewhat spartan. To the south about twenty miles is another tourist beach area with the advantage of a new toll road into the town of Porto de Galinhas. We visited on a day trip and this town seemed more geared towards tourists with more shops, restaurants, boat trips etc. One difficulty in this area is transportation. We rented a car since we were travelling to games in both Recife and Natal. However we would suggest that the average beach tourist rethink that idea and investigate alternatives, such as buses and cabs. The roads are in dreadful condition with potholes everywhere. Traffic is heavily congested. The main road - the BR-101 - is a nightmare around Recife, where it can take two hours to get through the city. Let someone else do the driving. Summary - this is an unsophisticated town about an hour from Recife. It has a beautiful beach, not much else to do, and the Caravelas De Pinzon has friendly and helpful staff and owners. We enjoyed our stay there but we will not miss the BR-101.
