Maintenance offered a change in room but it was late and I needed sleep. Front desk apologetic at check out but no offer of compensation. Checked in May 28, room 918 Hilton Gold member. First impression is the location is not as good as the Westin or the Marriott. Second is the shuttle takes a while, the Westin shuttle had come around twice before the Hilton's showed up Check in experience was standard, no warmth. Just getting the job done. Shower bathtub wall has 3 long strands of hair on it. While I'm not bothered, it does not reflect nicely on housekeeping Noise proofing was poor. Can hear street noises Bed, pillows and linen were nice Probably won't be back. The Westin is still the better airport hotel

Several negative issues with this Hilton property

Reviewed By newjerseycommentator

As a long time Hilton Diamond member, I've stayed in many Hilton properties around the country for years. For some reason, Doubletrees seem to be Hilton's most troubled brand. This hotel is no exception. It certainly performs its function if you need a place to stay for a night before or after flying out of SFO, but there are problems. First, as is often mentioned in these reviews, there is a $5.00 charge per person each way for the airport shuttle. This is a definite negative for what is, after all, an airport hotel and one for which i would imagine the vast majority of its customers are going to and from the airport. It looks like management just decided to offload the shuttle to a separate contracted service which in turn charges since the charge on the credit card goes to a separate company and not to Doubletree. That is a profitable idea for hotel management (no need to buy or lease buses, no need to hire and pay shuttle staff, etc) but not one which is optimal for hotel guests. The front desk person (at the right hand desk) was abrasive and unfriendly and unhelpful when we checked in. That reflects poor management hiring and training and supervision. Our room was apparently in a separate tower, but all she said, briefly, was "go to the second elevator" before turning away. Naturally we came to the elevators and took the second elevator (of the two) to the fifth floor before discovering that our room number was not on the floor. Back to the first floor, and then after some exploration, realized that we were supposed to go way down the corridor around the corner to a second bank of elevators to get to our room. The desk clerk could not have been less helpful or more unpleasant. The breakfast buffet is $25.00 a person, too high for what is offered (although the elderly waiter was nice and tried hard). The room AC was very loud when it came on, disturbingly so. The soap and shampoo amenities were microscopic in size (again, saving the hotel money but off putting to the guest). There are literally dozens of SFO airport hotels to choose from, including two other Hilton properties (Embassy Suites and Hilton) within walking distance of the Doubletree. I would suggest choosing another for your SFO hotel needs.

Close to SFO with transit provided. But cleanliness could be better. Plenty of “covid changes” but seemingly only ones that add to Marriott profit. Mask pretty much non existent for staff but M club closed and limited housekeeping. Feedback to property management was acknowledged but not too sure much will change.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, nice beach walk, and they gave me a bag breakfast since I had to leave before 6 am. But be aware, the airport has no food outside of security and there are only two expensive seafood and Chinese restaurants within walking distance. There's a gas station nearby with typical food and groceries.

We actually stayed here twice in May. First was two nights with 5 of us in adjoining rooms. The adult kids loved this as we’d never had one before. (The things they take joy in!) The rooms are clean and we never heard airplanes despite being so close to the airport. Upon checkout we downsized our car and learned all our luggage wouldn’t fit in the new car! As we’d be back for another stay in a day, the hotel let us store a bag and pick it up on our return. PERFECT. The woman at the front desk was so wonderful. Our second stay was only 4 of us in one double room. The guy working the front desk wasn’t so wonderful. Our room only had 2 towels and when I went to get two more he was shocked and challenged me. “MORE towels??” When I explained we had only two towels and four people he says “Four people?” like we’d snuck additional people in when the reservation was clearly for four. The hotel has a nice breakfast and the seating area is open all day. The night before our early flight we just ordered pizza delivery and ate there and played cards. It was a nice end to our vacation. (Even if I was challenged regarding our towel usage. ?) Oh, and their website said they don’t have an airport shuttle, but they did when we were there. So check with them if that is a deciding factor.
