Usually, when in a big tour and with the difficulty of understanding language, it is rare to feel the friendliness and the hospitality of the hotel stuff members. But the owner and the staff were really nice. In addition to the comfortable rooms, the convenient location and the delicious meals in the hotel restaurant(breakfasts and a dinner), we were impressed by the hospitality of the owner. Thanks a lot!

Reviewed By 977darylhAs other reviewers have pointed out the hotel (which has 10 bedrooms) is a family run affaire. It’s the latter that makes it special as nothing was too much trouble. The customer service was exceptional, whether that was dining, asking for local information, or even simple requests like having some ironing done. It was the small touches that made it great and everything was instant. In addition the food was a gastronomic delight. We ate dinner in the restaurant 3 evenings and it was always the same, wonderful food with great table service. We are fortunate in being well travelled and have stayed in some of the best hotels but this place competes because of how much the family love what they are doing and it shows. We stayed 6 nights and we found lots of lovely walks, beautiful villages and interesting places to visit. It’s a 20 minute pleasant walk into Brantome.

Reviewed By 850MichaelWe stayed for one night here as a belated Ruby wedding gift. On arrival we were greeted warmly and made to feel welcome by all of the staff. For some reason we were up-graded to the Honeymoon Suite with terrace and jacuzzi..wow! The room was pleasant and comfortable with extras of robes, slippers and chocolates. After enjoying champagne in the jacuzzi, we dressed for dinner and went down to a ‘Chef’s choice’ menu. He prepared a meal of foie gras, John Dory and then a fruit dessert topped with chocolate disc, on which was written, Happy Anniversary. The restaurant service was first class both for our dinner and the following morning for breakfast. I cannot fault the service or quality but must highlight that the staff were genuinely interested in ensuring that we enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to them all.

Lovely first visit to France
Reviewed By Lesley GMe and my husband stayed for four nights at the Bluebell guest house. It was a beautiful french house and everything we imagined it could be. It was clean and very well presented and our hosts Ann and Micheal were wonderful. Breakfast was provided with a good choice and my husband was very pleased with his bacon and egg . Our hosts gave us recommendations of places to visit which we were grateful for and felt they were very helpful in making our stay in Brantome a very pleasant one. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in the dordogne area.

Quaint B&B - Simple but effective
Reviewed By Babatunde OI stayed at this property for 3 nights over a long weekend. The property is ideally located to the south of Brantome and ticked all the boxes. The rooms were well kept and comfortable as well as having incredibly friendly staff who were accommodating and very helpful. The price was reasonable and the location is ideal for those looking to walk around and explore Brantome.

Reviewed By Bruce CSandrine welcomed us back for our second visit with same friendliness that she did the first time. She is so warm helpful. Nothing too much bother, The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. The bath rooms are very well equipped and well appointed - the one that we reserved "Praline" had a large bath/shower, double sinks and hair dryer. The use of a balcony over looking the beautiful Drome river is an added bonus on a warm and sunny day. Breakfast was a feast or fresh bread, croissants, pancakes, cheese and home made preserves. Fresh fruit and an endless supply of tea or coffee. Quiet and comfortable. If required - Sandrine speaks perfect English.

Our 16th Century barn conversion offers quality Bed and Breakfast accommodation. We are situated deep in the French countryside yet only 7 miles from Brantóme - the 'Venice' of France. Paul Edmunds holds courses based at his converted 17 C house in the hamlet of Les Ages consisting of six or seven houses. This photographic holiday was the best we have experienced because there was a good balance between (1) Photographic opportunities, (2) Tuition in composition and processing the images -- using Raw files rather than JPEG, ---he will provide a hand out of 10 steps in processing (3) Appraisals with suggestions for improving the image and (4) Relaxation after lunch. The studio has 4 Apple Mac computers with calibrated monitors and the latest software of Photoshop CC and Light room. Your hosts Paul & Pam Edmunds are a really nice couple with a genuine warm welcome and we were made to feel at home. They have a docile and friendly dog called Freddie. Paul has recently gained ARPS with a panel. Previously they both lived in the Lake District and he was a master printer. The maximum number of people on the workshop is limited to 4 so the interaction is mostly one-to-one. Paul will establish the day you arrive what sort of genre of photography interests you,and will try to tailor his itinerary to this end. He will also be interested in one's level of expertise and is quite prepared to help with camera settings and Photoshop for the less experienced. A bonus is that at the end of the holiday he will print 4 A 3 of your best chosen images to take home . We visited Brantome several times, which is a delight, Perigueux, and Bourdeilles. We were also offered as an extra, a portrait shoot in a derelict house in Les Ages. Pam is a talented cook and the five evening meals she prepared were beautifully presented and would have done credit to many a restaurant. Wine and drinks are all included. Twice Paul will take you out for lunch in a restaurant probably in Brantome and Perigueux, again all included in the price of the holiday. It is true that really you don't need to spend any money but he does appreciate being treated to a coffee! Accommodation is in two bedrooms with en suite toilet and shower, one with a double and single bed, the other room has a double bed. Tea or coffee making facilities in your room. We were picked up from the airport and taken back at the end of our week for €50 a trip, so it is unnecessary to have a hire car, unless one wants to explore the locality in the afternoons in the time set aside for relaxation or processing the picture. Paul has many repeat guests and we will be one of them .

Le Chatenet is a XVII-XVIII manor-house in a 6 hectares park near Brantôme, the Venice of Périgord. Beautifully decorated, all the rooms have a bathroom; facilities include a heated swimming pool, a tennis court and a club house. A five minutes walk under the trees take you to the village. It is the perfect place to rest in a peaceful atmosphere and discover a region full of historical and gastronomical patrimony. Meals are available on request.
Customer service was really lacking
Reviewed By sldavis705Stayed at this property May 5,6,7, 2022. Our tour group occupied 3 of the 6 rooms. On day 1, it was brought to William's attention (the proprietor) that there were ants crawling into a bathroom's room on the 1st floor (also that the front door's handle was inoperative requiring entry from the terrace and not fixed after 3 nights). A day later, ants were in our room on the 2nd floor directly above that room. We alerted William early that morning and left for the day with our travel group. Upon our return at about 9:30pm, the ants were not only on the bedroom wall but also IN OUR BED. Worse was William's response. He came up to the room, saw the ants, and knocked several off the bed sheets. Said that the ants are migrating and that our perfume(s) was likely the cause for the ants. Neither me nor my wife wear perfume. He never once apologized nor asked what he could do to make us happy. Only after a 5-minute frustrating back and forth did he begrudgingly tell us to relocate to a room across the hall. Sheesh! He is a master chef, and the lamb dinner he prepared was fabulous. Thus 2 stars, not 1. But I think this large, old/charming property is too much for him to handle. Meanwhile, the rest of our travel group stayed at the nearby Moulin de Vigonac hotel and raved about their 4-star accommodations & food. Wish we had stayed there instead.
