OUTSTANDING HOSTS AND ACCOMMODATION

Reviewed By FredHarvest

The managers and staff were fantastic. They certainly went the extra mile. We had a group of 24 Grade 12 students staying over for two nights, with meals included. Great braai, excellent breakfasts, as we had ordered. The food was superb, and quantities way too much!!!!! They treated us wonderfully. We enjoyed their friendliness. This "home" is far more than a Backpackers and deserves their four-star rating.

Very comfortable accomodation

We stayed in one of the family rooms which we found very clean and comfortable. The desk staff were helpful and answered all our questions on the activities the area. As it was off season there were only another six people staying there I cannot have any further comments about the other facilities offered.

Dijembe Backpackers Hostel

As you walk into Dijembe you become a part of what this homely and sustainable lodge's name promises: a circle of friends. Handmade hammocks, recycled building materials, fresh mountain water and small details like the 'frog city' which protects little amphibians in the wild green camping garden, prove the passion of the green Dijembe team. Respecting the Khoisan ancestors, Dijembe not only invites its guests to drumming and dances, but also preserves their heritage by including and strengthening the local community. Visit the local township with its art shops and taverns. Bounce through the National Park and explore nature on foot, affordable mountain bikes or on the backs of Dijembe's horses - or book some tubing. End the day with a wholesome organic dinner and bread from the stone pizza oven, then star gaze from the jacuzzi on the candle-lit deck.

Amakaya Backpackers & Apartments

Welcome to Amakaya Backpackers & Apartments, your 'home away from home.' Amakaya Backpackers is not perfect, however is a clean, friendly, homely place with hot showers (electric and gas), relaxed atmosphere and comfortable beds. Only a 300m walk to the shops, restaurants and bars Main Street and 800m from the popular Central Beach (beware of the steep uphill walk back that will certainly build up an appetite and thirst!). For the 'private' traveller or those who want some 'me' time, our range of double and twin private rooms (each with its own TV and hospitiality fridge) and 2 sleeper private dorm is just what you need. For those who do not mind sharing we have a selection of standard and en-suite dorms that sleep 2, 4, and 8 guests respectively. Our Backpacker Apartments is situated 200m away near the transport hub of Plett. Stay in a private or one of our dorm apartments. Each apartment has a kitchen, bathroom, satellite TV and wi-fi. Only 100m from Main Street.

Here is a list of things we didn't like : - No welcome ("look at your email inbox") and no one showing us the place at our arrival - No hot water in the shower - Smoking area just behind our windows (cigarette's odor in our room) - (more personal : cold atmospher) In our opinion, the rating seen on the internet (4/5) doesn't fit the reality.

Nice backpackers' hostel in need of renovation

Reviewed By ruulanni

Stayed there for 2 nights in February 2019. Rooms are nice and clean, but have stayed the same probably since the 1980s (so a refreshing renovation is due). Some direct problems we had - the windows won’t close tightly so the air is humid and it gets a bit cold at nights; some guys were staying on the floor above us - heard every word of what they said and every cough they produced. Otherwise everything is in a working order, the kitchen is nicely big and has everything you need to cook a regular dinner. The property has a huge garden and a friendly dog, the owners are nice and take care of problems quickly.

Oudtshoorn Homestay Accommodation

Excellent and friendly

Reviewed By ettienefritz

During the first few days of the 2019 KKNK, we needed a family friendly place to stay at. WE came across this place via the internet and this looked like the most suitable place to reside at for those few days. Upon our arrival in the middle of the night, we were convinced that we made a great choice. Not only is the staff friendly, they go above and beyond what you would expect. Sharonay is the lady that we were in contact with since we came and till the day we left. There are many places where people say that you can call them anytime and they will be of assistance. Here at Homestay that is not just talk - they really do deliver. I would definitely come back to this place when I'm back in Oudtshoorn again.
