Copper mining played a central historical role in the late 1800s the Moonta area, on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula, and Wheal Hughes Copper Mine is part of its more recent history. Visits to the mine require a hard hat, miners' boots and a cap-lamp to get a feel for the atmosphere of mining, 1890s style. Not for the frail--good physical fitness is required--and children under six are not permitted.

We visited the Oval, on a weekday, it was magnificent. We sat in the stands and admired the great icon. The Don Bradman cricket exhibition is a proud reminder of our excellent sporting history and the talent and hard work that our 'Don ' strove for an achieved. It was free, and we felt very privileged. Well worth seeing.

The Cedars

Reviewed By raandaka - Greater Adelaide, Australia

Six of us, including SA locals, interstate and overseas friends visited The Cedars where we took a self guided tour of the Han's Heysen Studio, a walk on the property (Artists Walk) and down to the green pool, followed by joining the guided tour of the House and self guided tour of the Nora Heysen Studio. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the volunteer staff and guides were helpful and informative. One of our overseas guests even commented that she enjoyed it as much as visiting Monet's House and Garden in Giverny! The garden surrounding the house was lovely with many old fashioned plants and flowers and lawned areas, and the Artist's Walk took in magnificent gum trees on the bushland property.

Historic Ketch Falie

Historic Ketch Falie, South Australia's only remaining original Cargo Ketch played an important role for the inter-coastal trade for South Australia. She also acted as a War Ship, protecting the waters from Sydney to North of Australia in World War II. Falie was restored in 1982 for the Centenary Celebrations. Modifications were made over the years to accommodate varied cargo expectations. The Ketch was later converted to accommodate passengers to stay on board. After the Falie's usefulness was exhausted and the Ketch was no longer needed to transport goods, she was left to deteriorate. Two Port Adelaide locals, Keith Ridgeway and Errol Ford began to clean up and restore the Ketch to prevent the loss of this important Historical Asset. The volunteer base and community support has grown over the years, with Falie well on the way to restoration with big plans for her future. You can now arrange a time to come aboard for a visit/tour of the Historic Ketch, and even make a booking to host your next function on board.

O'Leary Walker Wines Adelaide Hills

Reviewed By sezfez77 - Adelaide, Australia

Visited with friends when in Clare for a golfing weekend. The wine tasting was informative and delicious. We then ordered a couple of platters to enjoy with a glass of wine and take in the beautiful view. There is a lovely open space for children to enjoy plus plenty of seating inside for those that prefer it. Would be perfect for a wedding or other function.
