Flathead Lake

Reviewed By SgtMom2 - Fayetteville, United States

This was one of the prettiest places I have ever visited. The water is cold and amazingly clear. The views all around are gorgeous. There is a paved highway all around the lake with many places to stop and sightsee. We had a great afternoon flying a kite at a lakeside park.

After spending several winters on the ski hill at Whitefish MT,and taking in as many attractions offered, I found this unbelievable project. I saw an ad for Jesus Christ Superstar in the local paper. Not knowing anything about this project, I did some research & discovered that the performers are professionals who work on Broadway, etc but actually live here. And the theatre is state of the art with great seating & sound. I was absolutely thrilled with this performance. I had seen this production back in the 70’s & have seen about 15 top shows in NYC, London, Toronto, Edmonton & Vancouver over the years and this one was right up there with the best. Of course Mike Eldred, Eric Krop & Amelia Cormack were superb, but every last one of the performers were excellent. The musicians were top notch and the digital enhancements really gave me goose bumps! Even the volunteer who showed me to my seat came back at intermission to see if I was enjoying the show! The lady I was lucky to sit beside, was a long time Whitefish resident who personally knew the players, was a wealth of information & very friendly. The whole experience was awesome. Thank you Whitefish! Thank you Alpine Theatre people!

Artemis Acres Paint Horse Ranch

OPEN ALL YEAR WEATHER PERMITTING! Our horse rides are all guided, and go through miles of private timberland on both horse trails and logging roads with panoramic views of Flathead Valley. Though we do offer shorter lesson rides for the novice rider, our most popular ride, and the one providing the most fabulous scenery, is our morning or afternoon 2 hr ride. We also offer a half-day horseback ride, which includes a snack (this is only available in peak of season April- September). The Western BBQ Dinner ride is our personal favorite. Enjoy a late afternoon horseback ride to the mountaintop, followed by relaxing around the campfire while we prepare a traditional western barbecue. Live music! The BBQ is also only offered peak of season April-September. Please call in advance to make a reservation! Check our website for current prices.

We’ve been on about 8 trail rides in various places in the US an we have 4 horses at home — and Artemis Acres is the best place we’ve ridden. They have very healthy horses and great mountainous terrain. The views at the top are amazing. Our guide was very engaging and a great horse person. I’d highly recommend them

Ross Creek Cedar Grove Scenic Area

After snagging a highly sought after parking space, we meandered through the trails with our heads tipped upwards and our eyes open wide. Words or pictures cannot explain the magnificence of this area. Although there were 100's of people in the area, it did not seem crowded once we started wandering. In addition to the huge cedars, we found an isolated area to build cairns in the dry creek. Brave the parking lot to enjoy a peaceful walk among nature's beauties.

Kootenai Falls & Swinging Bridge

Reviewed By Schofield1956 - Mountainair, United States

Stunning views and a suspension bridge. What more could you ask for? Highly recommend. But ... not an easy hike. About a quarter of a mile from the parking lot ... over rocks, boulders, and tree roots. Plus a covered railroad crossing that has 3.5 flights of stairs. Plus a steep drop to the river. Remember ... it is all uphill on the way back. But ... highly recommended.

We were visiting Anaconda and made a quick run to Philipsburg. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend. The drive there, the candy shop, and mining experiences were so fun especially for kids of any age. A must!
