Lake McKenzie

Reviewed By Hervey2 - Hervey Bay, Australia

Such a beautiful fresh water lake, only the depth changes the colour, so turquoise in the shallows. Try cleaning your jewellery in the sand. I have cleaned my watch and watch face many times, that tells you how soft the sand is. So pure.

This beautiful restored steam locomotive operates every Thursday (same as Maryborough markets). Operated entirely by enthusiastic volunteers there is a nominal charge for a sedate 15 minute ride through parkland and historic riverside. There are 3 open air carriages each made of and named after an iconic Queensland timber. Information is provided on the Mary Ann locomotive, both technical and historical. Great fun for all the family

Cooloola Berries

Since opening up their strawberry farm in Goomborian for a 'pick your own' experience a few years ago, third generation farmer Jason and his wife Kim have been inundated with carloads of excited food lovers every weekend wanting to gorge themselves on berries picked straight from the bushes. People flock to the farm each week to drink strawberry cider, eat strawberry desserts and ice-cream and just enjoy relaxing in a beautiful setting.

Took my brother here for a birthday lunch what a hidden gem, the pancakes were delicious, Cold beers & beautiful farm setting, the staff were so friendly that it felt like you were having lunch at a friends house rather than a cafe. We purchased some fresh blueberries that had been picked on the farm. Do yourself a favour and try the lavender lemonade it is delicious. They have planted a field of sunflowers so we will definitely go back when they are out in bloom and to pat the beautiful border collie again ????
