A hidden gem on the island of Brač! Vinarija Senjkovic just hosted our party of six adults to an amazing 12 course lunch...or I should say...gastronomic adventure, paired with 8 of their outstanding wine selections. Sasha, the vintner, and his wife Magdalena were perfect hosts...very accommodating (we were late for our reservation due to a late taxi), attentive, spoke excellent English and offered wonderful explanations of both the food and wine. Magdalena prepared beautiful, innovative takes on traditional Dalmatian foods with presentations and taste combinations that would rival any Michelin starred restaurant. The wines were some of the best we had during our stay in Croatia and several were vintages not available publicly. The pours were generous and often repeated side by side for comparison with a similar wine style. The setting is very pretty and intimate as they only offer two seatings for lunch at a time. A definite must if you are visiting the island of Brač...just make sure that you make a reservation well in advance! Thank you for a truly wonderful afternoon Vinarija Senjkovic!

We visited this beautiful gallery in Donji Humac and entering their yard , I felt the beauty of the place. I fell in love with the sculptures especially the lady in the yard and the dove on a wall and was very much uplifted by seeing this. Just being there makes you feel great. Thank you family Jakšić.

The Island of Brac Museum - Skrip

Reviewed By Briansgardenistop - Cork, Ireland

The museum is located in the very pretty village of Skrip. We found the place by chance and were delighted we did. The curator was a lovely woman who was knowledgeable, clearly proud of her heritage to the island, spoke articulately in English and did so with a great ability to tell stories to both young and old. The museum is relatively small but has a number of items which reflect the Islands history. For 20Kuna entrance fee for adults this was a lovely place to stop off and spend an hour.

My friend and I went visiting Brac for a day (we were based in Split) and decided to do the wine tasting. We took a cab from the port (there are no Ubers on the island, we don't owe a credit card so couldn't rent a car/scooter and please note that biking is always a bad idea when you plan on going drinking) that cost 300hrk round-trip (this was during Coronavirus). The winery can also arrange pick-up if you ask in advance but for a bit more expensive fee. At the wine tasting place we met Marko. Marko's English is great so that makes it easy to chat with him and to ask all the questions we had. He told us that the winery is a family's passion before being a business, since all the family members actually have a main job and take turns in organizing the tastings on the side to share their knowledge and passion. Please note that at this place you can't visit the winery, it is located somewhere else. You will be doing the wine tasting in a small garden, in a covered patio, we actually thought we were at Marko's place but he built (himself!!! Nice work Marko) this place solely for the wine tasting purpose. Marko has also 2 cats and 2 turtles just wandering around. We really felt at home. The tasting consisted of: - 5 different kinds of Grappa: the typical one, fig, walnut, carob, sage - a 5yo red wine, a 3yo red wine, a rosé and a white wine (approx 1/2L each I would say? ) - water of course, thanks lord - a food plate: Matar (= Samphire?) + sundried tomatoes, some white bread, olive oil, a spread of olive oil + tuna + matar, some cheese (mix of cow and sheep milk). All the eats are locally-made in Brac. It was absolutely delicious, we almost ate all of it and even asked for more bread. Regarding the wines, they are all locally-harvested and produced exclusively by Marko's family! They do all the work themselves and don't outsource. They could export them or sell them to restaurants or in supermarkets but Marko told us they chose not to so the wines that you will taste are very unique in the sense that you can only taste them or buy them at this place! Needless to say we got really drunk because we decided not to spit anything, which I guess is also evidence of how tasty the wines were ! I think we stayed there for 4 hours and I ended up buying some Matar to bring home with me. It was an amazing afternoon well spent, very informative and a wonderful memory my friend and I now share forever (we don't live in the same country). Thank you Marko for making this happen! For all it has to offer this is a very high quality experience, for a very reasonable price (we actually couldn't believe the price at first when we exchanged emails with Marko haha) ! Highly recommended.
