I am a high handicapper (31) and recently played the May River Course with a caddie, Billy. I had such a great time. Billy was fantastic and knew more about my game than I did. I learned enough about my game from him to shave off a couple strokes since then. He was patient, informative, and made me feel totally comfortable. The course itself is beautiful, perfect for people like me who enjoy walking. As a woman and a high handicapper, I don't always feel completely at ease on an away course, but Billy and the rest of the staff (pro shop, bar outside) made me feel right at home. With every penny. Great day of golf and I can't wait to go back!

At the end of April my wife and I spent 3 days with Ted and his crew and had a great experience with them on the range, in the classroom and on the courses. The pace and depth of instruction were enough to challenge all who attended, from a true beginner to seasoned veterans, and the staff's ability to work constructively with golfers of all levels at the same time was remarkable. My wife and I truly enjoyed and benefited from the experience and it was a great shared activity. We recommend Classic Swing for anyone who is serious about wanting to improve their golf game.

The Golf Courses of Palmetto Dunes

Palmetto Dunes is a thriving resort community with three popular and award-winning golf courses as well as condos, villas and vacation rentals. This oceanfront Hilton Head golf resort provides three championship golf courses to choose from: The Robert Trent Oceanfront Course, The George Fazio Course and the Arthur Hills Course!

Reviewed By JohnR859 - Hilton Head, United States

I've been playing golf at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort for many years -- the Arthur Hills Course and the Fazio Course are demanding and scenic, always in great shape! My favorite course to play is the Robert Trent Jones Course! The front nine is demanding, especially on hole #3 (narrow drive), #4 (narrow drive), #7 (the wind picks up on this hole, hitting over a large lake with several fairway bunkers on left side of fairway), and #8 (all-water carry to a wide green without much depth) You'll love #9 (getable par-5) and #10 (getable par-5 depending on which way the wind is blowing from the ocean) -- two par-5's in a row! The back nine is fair, although you need to pay attention to the wind and your landing areas. This is by far one of my favorite golf courses to play -- partially due to the layout of the course, but also for the excellent customer service and professional staff at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. Staff members Brian Nicholson, Susan Citron, and Grant Kielley do a great job and welcome you with a smile everytime you tee it up! In addition, Palmetto Dunes Director of Golf Instruction Doug Weaver is always one of the Top Teachers to consider when you need instruction or a friendly tip on the practice green. Doug completed on the PGA Tour and brings that knowledge to Palmetto Dunes. You MUST play golf at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, and if you choose just one of the three courses, my highest recommendation is to play the Robert Trent Jones Course -- I might see you out there!!

We recently stayed at 627 Queens Grant in Palmetto Dunes. We rented through the Palmetto Dunes Resort. They were so helpful and courteous. This villa is beautifully decorated and updated. Everything was so nice and comfortable, and the lovely patio overlooked one of the five pools in the complex. When we arrived the property manager checked to make sure everything was okay and let us know he was there for us if we needed anything. There were even beautiful, fresh cut flowers waiting on us when we arrived! This was a great vacation experience, and we highly recommend it!

Barefoot Resort & Golf - Dye Course

At Barefoot Resort, Pete Dye set out to create something that would linger in the golfer's mind forever.Bordering the natural white sands of the Carolina Bays, this visually stunning design is filled with the infamous pitfalls for wayward shots that have become synonymous with the Dye name. Both beautiful and treacherous, the Dye Course is an experience you won't soon forget. The Dye Course is the only semi-private facility at Barefoot Resort.Pete Dye upholds his reputation of building memorable and challenging golf courses by creating a stunning design filled with his infamous pitfalls to capture errant shots. However, if played from the appropriate set of tees, players of all abilities will be able to navigate the Dye Course. The course is a Par 72, 7,343-yard layout within a gated community on exclusive real only on the exterior perimeter of the property.Pete Dye is famous for his use of native grasses. The fairways are GN-1 Bermuda grass, a hybrid developed by Greg Norman Turf. The approaches are Tifdwarf Bermudagrass, the greens are newly acquired Champion UltraDwarf and the dramatic visual effects are achieved by the Centipede and Zoysia grass roughs.

Another one of my Top 5 Strand tracks. Excellent, extremely challenging layout. It was still very soft from Hurricane Florence but otherwise in great shape. Played this on a windy, chilly morning and I was pleasantly surprised by the fairly quick pace of play (3 1/2 hours) for this tough course. Green fees are fairly spendy but I was able get in on a deal so mine was around $110 or so. Guest service for this quality facility was as I would expect...top notch. The only exception to this was a young man (dressed in all black and grey) who had a greater interest in his cell phone than my bag ("I guess I can put your clubs on for you"). His demeanor and guest interaction was certainly sub par. I didn't let him dampen an otherwise great experience. Grounds crew were friendly throughout the course and busy keeping the place in top shape. The driving range and putting green were both nice. There is also a nice range across the road with a friendly, helpful manager on the day of my visit. Pro Shop had excellent selections in all sizes. Pricing was as expected but also had some good sales going on. Even with the higher pricing, this is a "must play" when in Myrtle Beach.

This was my first time playing Hilton Head National and I already look forward to the next time. Beautiful course, excellent condition, fairways as smooth as some other course’s greens. Being a high handicapper and infrequent golfer, I was looking for a course that was not crowded with condos and houses so this course was just perfect for me. Pace was good, staff was very friendly and everyone I spoke with had high praise for the condition and beauty of the course. I plan to return next year for family vacation and this will be on our list of places to play. Thanks to all who keep this one of the top places to play in the Hilton Head area.

Great course by Mike Strantz and with lots of risk/reward opportunities. Not very long from the tips but requires some strategic shots. Be sure to study the green before your approach shot as some provide opportunity to funnel the ball closer to the cup. The greens rolled very well and are fast. Course was is excellent shape considering recents storms producing large amounts of rain. It is definitely worth the cost and a trip from Myrtle Beach if you’re staying there. Easy to see why this course ranks in the America Top 100 and. I’m ready to tee it up again!

Played Man O War today and the course was in excellent condition. It was cart path only today due to the very heavy rain yesterday. No matter, the course was a joy to play . Lush fairways, and while the greens were recently punched, they were in great condition just like the rest of the course. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. You gotta like to play where there is a lot of water if you play here. The water just makes it more interesting. I am looking forward to playing here again.
