Nevalea Alpacas

Nevalea Alpacas, the largest alpaca farm in New Zealand, is home to over 950 friendly alpacas. We offer visitors ‘The Ultimate Alpaca Experience’ and have a range of different activities to choose from to give visitors an opportunity to get up close to the alpacas, hand feed them and feel just how soft and cuddly the alpacas are. We operate alpaca treks through the summer months, where visitors can walk an alpaca around the farm and see hundreds of alpaca come to greet them in the hills, spectacular views surrounded by alpacas. We also offer a shorter alpaca walk throughout the year as another option. We have baby alpacas all year-round, and for a unique opportunity offer visitors the chance to have a cuddle with a baby alpaca. Great up close and personal experiences and chances for some amazing photos. See our website for all activity options and bookings.

Amazing experience, we've been to a few alpaca farms but this is definitely the best! A walk with 2 young alpacas to visit and feed some of the adult ones (there are so many!), then we got to have a cuddle with a baby, before ending with a picnic in one of the paddocks with a couple of mothers and babies. Totally awesome visit.

A friendly Saturday morning market by the river. Go hungry as there are lots of great food stalls. Make sure you buy honey from the guy at The Forgotten World Cabin - it's amazing! He was near the main road in one of the side branches of the market. I really wish I'd bought 2 jars.

Feilding Farmers' Market

I visit as often as possible. Sometimes tricky as I work on Friday, but on my off day I make it a point to stop by. My favourite thing to do is buy the odd plant, weekend vegetables and savouries. There have been a range on offer. I’ve noticed a few more bakeries sneaking in with their twist on the kiwi classic pie- you’re in for a treat. There are some very creative bakers out there. I’ve had Brie, cranberry and steak pies, and an assortment of creamy mushroom steak pies from the market and a few really intriguing sweet desserts, salted Carmel donuts etc. There are craft market stalls too, if you’re after kiwi hand made or pre-loved goods; something for that specific niche or aesthetic. Have a gander...
