Cleo Knitwear

Cleo is a family run Irish knitwear and design shop based in Dublin supporting Irish knitters and makers since 1936.

After reading some great reviews I first visited Cleo about 3 years ago in search of an Irish sweater. I am SO happy that I found this shop the day before I was due to go back home. They have the most beautiful and truly one of a kind sweaters (among other great items). The brands they carry are extremely well made. They also have their Cleo originals that are hand knit from local knitters around Ireland. I love this store so much that it was my first stop back when I returned the following year, and now that I have found their website I am in BIG trouble! :) Going to this shop is a must if you are in Dublin, you can see all the wonderful patterns and styles of different knitters from all over. I also have had a wonderful experience e-mailing back and forth with Sarah on a sweater she is having custom knit for me, Cleo is truly a very special shop.

Jam Art Factory

Rooted in a desire to showcase the abundant and talented artists emerging in Ireland today, Jam Art Factory first opened it's doors on Patrick Street, in the heart of Dublin's historic Liberties in 2011. Since then, this independant gallery and design shop has been showcasing smart, contemporary Irish art to a growing band of avid fans. Our handpicked artists fill the gallery with fresh concepts in print, using both traditional and contemporary techniques. We have ceramics, textiles, jewellery and street art in strange and wonderful forms, always working with the artists to create exciting new designs. In 2013, brothers Mark and John opened a second location in the lively surrounds of Crown Alley in Temple Bar, and today, Jam Art Factory ships prints all over the world, providing a platform for independent artists to exhibit their work and solving all your home and gift dilemmas.

Celtic Spirit Jewellery

Celtic Spirit is a little family run business on the ground floor of St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, we are a friendly bunch who are proud to offer you the biggest range of Sterling Silver Celtic Jewellery in Dublin, at unbeatable prices! Established in 1988 we were one of the first shops in Ireland to specialise in Celtic jewellery inspired by The Book of Kells.

Reviewed By Bayberry - Dublin, Ireland

Celtic Spirit is a small, well designed store that is managed and fronted by courteous professional staff. Their speciality is sterling silver. What I appreciate the most is that they offer both original and imaginative designs in earrings, necklaces, etc as well as more classic styles. My husband discovered them while taking a walk at lunchtime walk over 12 years ago and since then, every Birthday, every Christmas, I received a lovely pair of earrings or a necklace. Recently because of Ireland's LockDown, some earrings he had ordered for my Birthday in April were delayed. Celtic Spirit made my day with a special gift which accompanied his order when it arrived in late May. Very treasured - we're customers for life.

This is Knit

Dublin's best location for quality knitting and crochet supplies. Traditional Irish Tweed and exclusive locally hand-dyed yarns a speciality.

I went to this shop on the recommendation of Tripadvisor and I could not have been more pleased. Tucked into a Victorian shopping center in the Grafton St. area, the shop has lots of space and light for really enjoying the fine colors and wools. They have a good selection of Irish-milled wools, and I chose two colors from their in-house brand, which the daughter of the mother-daughter staff team dyes herself. We had a nice lunch downstairs in the shopping center, and they were kind enough to wind the wool for me while we ate. Lovely shop, and if I lived in Dublin I'd try to convince them to hold knitting evenings for sure! (If they don't already.) Tip: They are open on Sundays in the Fall and Winter--check their hours for your visit.

I love Lucys Lounge and always call in when I'm in Dublin. I still love and wear my little black dress I bought there many years ago I always come away with a great find and a few extras. Great prices and lovely unusual stock. The staff are so friendly and helpful u feel like you have known them all your life. I've met so many lovely interesting people here. The owner, Dee, is so lovely and always enjoys a chat and gives great advice on your purchases. Lucy's is to the right at the back of the shop as you go down the metal staircase. Even though it may be a Waterstones that keeps its original name , this temple to the printed word is a great place to spend time soaking in the atmosphere. Only a block from Trinity, accross the street from a Tower Records, and near all the great places to eat on Dawson street- it is wonderful. Great section of book re: Ireland.

Sweny's

Sweny's Pharmacy is featured in James Joyce's Ulysses. Today, the chemist is maintained by volunteers, celebrating Joyce's life and works with daily readings, cups of tea, Dublin gossip and not forgetting, of course, the lemon soap. Loose yourself in the second hand books and imagine yourself back in 1904 among the old pharmaceutical paraphernalia.

Reviewed By tunai

My first morning and last evening in Dublin were both spent at Sweny's, reading with the group. The highlight of my entire stay. This is truly the city's most evocative and vibrant Joyce shrine. You sit and read with Joyce acolytes, the curious and ghosts. The room feels haunted--think of those, including the clean-shaven Joyce, still relatively a young man--who walked in through these doors and stood in the same interior which retains most of its original décor. All thanks are due to the charismatic P.J. Murphy (he's read Ulysses 59 times!) and his complete dedication to the place. Such people are rare these days. We need to ensure Sweny's stays alive and well!
