Granted, they were busy when we arrived, but still horrible. First we asked if they take debit cards (yes). Then we asked if we seat ourselves but the waitress walked away. We sat down. After more than 5 minutes we still had not received a menu. We asked another table for theirs. After 15 more minutes we still had not had our order taken or even acknowledged by the three people waiting the tables. We got up to go. I stopped a waitress and told her we were leaving and why. All she offered was a "sorry" and nothing else. I understand places get busy, but a simple sentence "I will be right with you" would have kept us as customers. Instead we were ignored and made to feel they did not want our business. Stay away.

Came here for dinner, Very nice atmosphere staff was efficient and friendly. We had mains and desserts. The mains were really good the desserts (Kaiserschmarrn) was burnt.To get two courses took three hours !!!! (We arrived at 7:15pm and left at 10:15pm)But if you are not in a hurry I would recommend to give it a try.

Wollte am Samstag zum Spiel Deutschland gegen Schweden hier Essen gehen. Aber auf einer Tafel wurde angekündigt, dass die Küche ab 20:00 Uhr geschlossen habe. Meine nochmalige Nachfrage wurde bestätigt: wegen Reichtums geschlossen!

Zum Abendbrot am Sonntagabend fanden wir den Weg in diese wirklich schön und auch Abseits gelegene Hotel mit Gaststätte. Der Empfang war herzlich und die Speisekarte war übersichtlich um die zusätzliche Spargelkarte erweitert.Preise für die aufgerufenen Gerichte waren nach unserem empfinden Preiswert.Alles ging sehr zügig, es waren aber auch nur 3 Tische besetzt. Eine Reklamation der bestellten Fischspeise wurde durch ein anderes Essen ersetzt und als Kompensation wurde uns noch ein Nachtisch angeboten. Schade das um 20 Uhr schon geschlossen wurde. Wir werden wieder kommen.

Gute Küche mit thüringer Klösen, wir waren eine geschlossene Gesellschaft (25) an einem sonst geschlossenem Mittag, Es wurden alle Wüsche erfüllt, nur 4* weil etwas schwer zu erreichen, Zufahrt bis Kircherstr.

The Dumplings are really delicious! I had "Hirschkeule" I would translate that with Elk meat, because I am not sure that it is venison (since I've never had venison) from the hip (not the whole leg hehehe). I don't translate food for a living, I just eat it. It was really very tasty. My husband had goose and dumplings, and my daughter had fish fingers and dumplings. My Son was the odd one out with french fries and schnitzel. I would definitely come back

Our 3rd year visiting SAALFELD, with 3 visits to the Papp, two of them for meals, once - on the ehemaliger Mens' Day - nur for a drink oder zwei. Good company at the bar, telling us about the history of Mens' Day and much else from the forner ddr times. Bar staff let us see the 'canal' on the bar in motion, mit wasser, & the stock of Scottish whisky gefallt mir. Hope to be back in Summer 2012, staying in B Brechtstr again at a v friendly zimmer-for-rent run by folks who have become our friends. isabel u steve von Greenock, bei Glasgow.

Really basic food without any surprises. Icy espresso was very good dessert though. Also German wheat beer will meet your expectations ;)

The asparagus season (taken very seriously in Germany!) was just getting underway so I decided to OD with a starter of cream of asparagus soup and a main of perch (Zander) with asparagus and potatoes. This proved a good choice and I returned a second time for an equally enjoyable (non-asparagus) dinner.

This restaurant, attached to the Hotel Anker, was the best of the three I visited during my stay in Saalfeld.
