We were warned that in Thailand there are bike hire scams so were careful when choosing where to hire a scooter from. The guy here is super helpful and very honest and reliable. We picked up the bike, we dropped it back we had absolutely no hassle, it was great. We witnessed many arguments ongoing in the town between tourists and bike hire places who were arguing about scratches etc. With Buddah, there is full insurance included so you have total peace of mind. He didn't even look at the bike on returning it. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend you use this place. I think many tourists hired out scooters at low prices only to have to pay ALOT for little scratches on returning the bike.

Me and my girlfriend rented a bike for 2 days. We look for a service with insurance included and they have it. The insurance covers any type of damage, excepted if it broken some part of the moto. We need to delivered a deposit of 5000 bht or the original passport. We preferred to left the money. The guys were nice and advised us to upgrade the Moto because we are 2 people and in Koh Tao there are some ramps and we should have a Moto with enough power to go through. We also rented a snorkeling and everything worked well. Really recommended.

I did my shopping rounds with different scooter rental shops and ended up with Koh Tao Scooters. They had the fairest rental terms, good prices and decent scooters. The main thing for me was not having to leave my passport as a deposit. A photo copy of the passport and 2000THB was all that was required as a deposit. Quite a few other places wanted 5000-7000THB for deposit. I also took out the 100THB/day "scratch insurance". It's absolutely impossible not to scratch the bellypan of the scooter on Koh Tao's roads especially when riding two up. 300THB/day is a fair price considering the beating the scooters take on those roads. KohbTao Scooters rent Honda Click 125s just like pretty much all of the other rental shops. The machinery is definitely well used, but everything works as it should. The little 125 to me and my wife up and down some of the steepest slopes of the island without any complaints while consuming next to no go-juice at all. We inspected the scooter together, smiled, looked each other in the eyes and shook hands when renting the scooter and did the same when returning it. It's all about mutual trust. If you decide to rent from Koh Tao Scooters, which I highly recommend you do, please respect that trust.

I rented a Click 125 scooter from 23 for a month while I was visiting Koh Tao. The bike was in great shape, the staff was friendly, spoke good English and the rate beat most of the other shops in town. I paid 3,000 baht for the month including scratch insurance. The pick up and return were easy. It is a little unsettling leaving your passport as a deposit, but that is the way it is done around Asia in general. It was returned without issue. A previous reviewer noted that the shop did not provide a copy of the rental agreement when rented or returned, but there was no issue with taking a photo of them. As a protection for yourself, the clerk recommended fully documenting the condition of the bike with photos when rented. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend this shop without hesitation. I have heard horror stories about some rentals on the island, but this was certainly not a worry here.
