Perdana Botanical Garden

Pack a picnic and stroll through this green oasis in the city. Consider getting an early start or exploring after the worst of the heat has passed.

Perdana Botanical Garden is more like a large park as much as a botanical garden. There’s not much shade in the park and it’s challenging wandering in the tropical heat of Kuala Lumpur. The park is well kept, with lots of paved pathways for some interesting walks around the park. There’s also several attractions that make it worth multiple visits such as the Orchid & Hibiscus Gardens, Bamboo Playhouse, Butterfly Park, Bird Park, Deer Park etc. One distinctive plant near the bamboo playhouse is a rainbow eucalyptus tree, which really does have the colours of the rainbow, which is just awesome.

Putrajaya Botanical Garden

The Putrajaya Botanical Garden is still open, but some of the facilities are not available due to the ongoing virus. So there’s no bike hire or boat rides etc, basically anything that requires staff. At times it felt like I had the entire place to myself such was the dearth of visitors. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, with some great trails of gardens, forests and even a canopy walk. A great place to see some lovely plants.
