Top 10 Fun Activities & Games in Springfield, Illinois (IL)

January 23, 2022 Brain Ambrose

The spirit of the "Land of Lincoln" is nowhere else so alive as it is in Springfield, one time home to old Honest Abe himself and present home of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site, the Old State Capitol State Historic Site, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site. The NAACP also holds Springfield at its roots, having formed after a particularly bloody race riot here in 1908.

Ergadoozy Creative Play Center

Ergadoozy is a creative play center for kids 12 & under. We have 2 creative play spaces set up for exploration of various toys. A 5 level jungle climber with tubes & slides gives a chance to run off steam. There is also a projection game room, where children play active games on the floor. The foamball shooter room is fun for the older kids. Entry fee is a day pass.

Our kids love the park, but when it is tooo cold outside to play ergadoozy is awesome. There are play areas for all ages. This is not a placed where your kids play and you just watch, you can play with them and it is really enjoyable. There is plenty of seating for adults that just want to watch. Great price to pay for your child and adult is free. After an afternoon of play the kids crash fast! This place also is clean for all the kids running around the baby and toddler areas do not smell like diapers and they even have a bucket to put yucky toys.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park

Sky Zone is the world’s first indoor trampoline park. We’re the inventors of “fun fitness” and the makers of trampolines as far as the eye can see. We give you one of the greatest workouts ever combined with awesome, healthy fun. We’ve been voted the number one “out of the box” workout and the “best party ever.”

We visited the Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Springfield, IL with our three kids, ages 5, 9 and 13. We have visited other Sky Zone locations, and by comparison, this one seemed bigger with more to do. Our youngest (5 year old girl) loved the trampolines that bounce into the pit, the climbing ladder and the free jump trampoline area. Our middle (9 year old boy) loved it all, but especially enjoyed the dodge ball and jousting. Our oldest (13 year old girl) enjoyed the jousting and the basketball trampolines. We jumped for 60 minutes, and they could have easily stayed longer. If you have visited any Sky Zone before, remember to bring your sky socks or you will need to purchase a new pair. We appreciated how they grouped children by age/ size during crowded times and in dodge ball. We felt it kept everyone safer. I also liked seeing the manager and assistant manager walking around the areas interacting with the kids and encouraging everyone to have a fun time. There is reasonably priced snack food in the facility, but we opted for a trip to a nearby custard shop (Freddy's). They also have party rooms available and an upstairs area that overlooks the trampolines with tables and chairs. If your kids are older, you could hang out up there and watch from above. They are currently constructing a rock-climbing wall, which we would love to go back to try! Overall, a great facility- clean with lots of jumping options, well-trained and interactive staff members and a fun, safe place to burn off some energy!
