The most amazing little creperie on the main street in Ferte St Aubin not far from the entrance to the chateau. We booked for three people and turned up with eleven! They moved all the tables to accomodate us on the terrace, and when the rain started they moved us indoors just as efficiently. A good range of interesting kirs to start with, and on their recommendation we had two different ciders to drink with the meal. Excellent goat's cheese starter and delicious main course crepes. We had a crepe flambe for desert. Price for eleven of us including drinks was 260 Euros, incredible value. Prompt service with a smile the whole time. This really made our trip to France. If you're driving any where near stop off and sample their menu.

Restaurant Le Skottowe is incorporated within Chateau Les Muids a castle built by a Brit in the 17th Century which nestles in 33 hectares of private land. The restaurant serves top quality local French cuisine that is lovingly prepared by chefs Fredy Arnault and Jeffery Cagnes. The menu was imaginative and the food lived up to my expectations. I particularly enjoyed the wild boar main course.

We were a bit put off by the entrance to this place as we thought it was too fancy for a family meal on holidays - but thankfully we went in . Lovely spot focussed on grilled steaks and fish. Have a kids menu. Deserts amazing. Really lovely setting, lovely restaurant and really nice staff - their English was as good as my French but we made ourselves understood ! Great meal and felt like a real treat.

We had the 'la promenade a gastronomique' menu. Excellent value for money. Cosy restaurant, romantic atmosphere, with great professionals. If you are traveling south from NL/UK/BE do book the combination of this restaurant with, the right and only way to start your vacation in France (we think :)).

We visited this lovely little restaurant just off the market square twice during our holiday. On both occasions my wife and I had thoroughly enjoyable three course meals. The small garden terrace is the perfect spot on a hot day. The menu changes daily and is always home cooked and delicious. On the first occasion I had steak poivre with fries which was cooked just right, medium rare without being bleu. No fat or gristle. On the second occasion I had chicken in a mushroom sauce with pasta gratin on the side. There is a choice of 3 starters each day and an even wider selection of deserts. The cos of the 3 courses is just 12 euros representing excellent value.

Just happened upon this restaurant whilst visiting the chateau; what a find! The food was excellent, we were there at lunch time on a Saturday but there were lots of options including a â¬16/20 menu. Shame we are not staying closer as we would be going again before the end of the week
