A small specialty museum, basically one large room, the museum details the life and times of Robert Louis Stevenson and his family. Most of the artifacts in the museum are Stevenson originals. While the signage is interesting, the staff are wonderful and willing to talk about Stevenson and his life and works.

We are so lucky here in Northern California, delicious food and gorgeous wines are not hard to find and I have experienced my fair share. I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a Sensory Lunch Pairing at Brasswood Estate and it absolutely blew my mind. The Lunch Pairing takes place in the Sensory Room which was created by Estate Sommelier Joshua Fisher, it is as gorgeous as it is unique. Joshua has created custom-made glass globes that represent the flavors and aromas present in the wines. Replenished with fresh ingredients on a daily basis, our sensory guide Jordana helped us to understand how the components and complexities of the wines were represented in these creative and artistic globes both visually and aromatically. We were invited to re-visit each globe multiple times and much like the wines they represent, we were able to detect different influences and aromatic nuances with each inhalation. As if that wasn't enough, our wines were also paired with custom made dishes from Brasswood Restaurant, so dang delicious! The hand-pulled mozzerella served on grilled crostini was sprinkled with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and fresh rosemary and paired beautifully with Brasswood's 2013 Chardonnay, the short rib sugo with house-made papardelle served with the Cab Franc was enough to dream about. This experience left me with the desire to revisit both the winery and the restaurant. This is a beautiful property and is offering truly unique experiences, I would highly recommend Brasswood and look forward to coming back to share with friends.

Sutter Home Winery

Reviewed By mandersmke - Milwaukee, United States

This was easily my favorite stop in Napa Valley. It's basically a large shop with three tasting options. One was a free tasting with a good variety of 4 different wines, one was a list of 5 sweeter wines for $5, and the final tasting for $5 was a variety of specialty wines. Outside, there is an inn restricted to inn guests only but we were able to sit in the picturesque gazebo, explore the small rose garden, and check out the lovely koi pond. We decided to pop outside between each of our pours but you can park yourself inside for your tastings as well. Shout out to Yesica who helped us with our tastings and was super helpful, informative, and friendly! She was key to our great visit! The shop itself had a great variety of wines for purchase, including the Sutter Home mini bottles that I love! They had a couple packs of 16 mini-bottles-they should sell these everywhere! We opted to buy a regular bottle and build a couple 4-packs of mini bottles mixing and matching our favorite wines. We had just as much fun shopping as we did tasting. Overall the vibe at Sutter home, is very comfortable, casual, and fun. We enjoyed ourselves and would definable recommend and return!
