Devil's Rock Hiking Trail

Reviewed By AP782 - North Bay, Canada

Trail B is rooty, rocky, rough and rugged! Lots of fallen trees over the path. Some muddy spots too. It was a blast! I wore trail running shoes and was totally fine. Trail is well marked with large B signs and flagging tape. I took trail A out to see what this trail was like. At this time of year it is really wet and mucky but people have made paths around a lot of the worst spots. The cliffs are absolutely spectacular. I'm so glad I took the time to finally see this beautiful trail.

Great walk and beautiful view. The path is wide open with very few tricky spots for the walk. 4 or 5 great views from the top overlooking the whole north side of the island.

Onaping Falls

Reviewed By pandacb

This is a very nice side trip from Sudbury. Started from AY Jackson Lookout and took the trail to the bridge. Please note that the first part of the trail is VERY rocky and you need appropriate footwear. Sometimes it is hard to navigate along the rocks so be very careful. After the rocky descent from the lookout, it is a nice walk along the water with great views, up to the bridge.

The Screaming Heads of Midlothian

Reviewed By JazzyButtons - Brantford, Canada

A great place to visit! The volunteers on the property are so friendly and more than willing to chat and tell you their stories about the place. We spent an hour there walking the trails and viewing the sculptures. Admission is free (they do have a donation box, with proceeds going to the Burk’s Falls foodbank and library). Plenty of free parking. Go and enjoy!!

South River Brewing Co

South River Brewery (formerly Highlander) is located in South River, in the Almaguin Highlands just north of Muskoka - making South River Brewing Co one of the most northerly craft breweries in Ontario. A five-minute drive from the Highway 11 exit will bring you straight to our new brewery on the main street in South River.

I picked up a few cans of Highlander Beer while traveling to North Bay a month ago and noticed, when i got home, the option to Order Online. I tried the service and had beer delivered to my door within days of my order. A great variety and good beer while offering a service that is useful during these days of social isolation. Cheers !

Bellevue Park

Reviewed By LisGor_Mc - Thunder Bay, Canada

During a recent stay in Aug 2017-my family went to Bellevue Park!!! As a child my parents always brought me to this park when we visited our family in the Soo! I wanted to pass on and share a tradition with my sons and hubby-feeding the geese and ducks-lol!! Always a fun experience for all and since my childhood they have like 4-5 play structures for children to utilize and have fun with! Back in the Day they used to have a Zoo on the premises but it is now a flower/garden conservatory area! All in all I love the location of this park and did not get to fully enjoy all of its beauty as we stayed by the play equipment! The paths along the river and through the park looked well groomed and next time for sure we will have to explore a little more!! Definitely worth a visit for all ages!!!

Lake Laurentian Conservation Area

Imagine the remote tranquility of a wilderness setting, a man-made lake and pond, scenic lookouts, a self-guided nature trail, numerous wetland areas, hiking trails, bird watching areas, and snow shoeing and cross-country ski trails in winter. The Lake Laurentian Conservation Area offers the photographer, nature watcher, and recreationist boundless opportunity to experience the wilds. The Nature Chalet is open on weekdays from 8:30-4:00.

What an amazing transformation a few decades makes. This beautiful area used to be practically barren. We did the 10 k Laurentian Loop and it had a great variety of terrain and ecosystems. We spent most of the walk grazing on blueberries. Lots of granite domes and forest sections. Sometimes by the lakes, including an incredible beaver dam that raised a good sized lake by 6 feet. Also stand on an overlook at the southern extreme of the Sudbury basin and look North to Sudbury and south almost to Killarney Park. One of my favourite hikes in Northern Ontario.
