The interior of this Shrine, (as well as Imam Ali's Shrine in Najaf ) are superlative! They both attest to Persians' refined skills in decorating with mirror mosaics and chandeliers.Iraqis, unlike Iranians, allow non-Muslims to enter and take pictures.

The Shrine is the most impressive and beautiful shrine we visited during our 12 days tour. We were all very amazed by its elegant and gorgeous architecture, and the peacefulness and friendliness of the people, both the visitors and the staff inside the shrine. It's a life time experience to all of us indeed.

Recently I visited the museum with a friend from overseas. I never thought I would be such overwhelmed. It bears within its walls recent history of south Kurdistan which I have witnessed and lived. But been here was a different matter, a large doze of mixed emotions of patriotism, sorrow, rage and disappointment hit me in a way that I couldn’t come out of it for couple of days. Nonetheless I left in tears for all those young men and women martyrs of ISIS war whose portraits were decorating the walls of the museum. Visit this place, it is a must. You can’t live in this city or visit it without going to the Amna suraka musem.
