SGHN - Museo de

The Natural History Museum has one of the most complete collections of marine mammals in the country. The big fin whale is the most striking specimen in the marine biology room, but there are also several pieces quite remarkable as the giant squid, the goblin shark and cetacean fossils of 20 million years of age.

The exhibition is very nice and you can learn a lot about local fauna and flora. Even though you don't speak gallego it's worth a visit! The staff is really great - very friendly, and even tough there was no guided tour, Maria showed us around the part of the museum that was not self-explanatory and told us some very interesting facts about geology in Galicia! We really enjoied the visit, thanks again Maria, and of course also all the volunteers who make this museum work!
