I happened upon Kona Farm Direct while driving, and am so glad I made the impromptu stop! Leslie welcomed me in, offered me a cup of their delicious medium-dark roast to try out before purchasing, and took the time to show me around and explain the coffee growing and prepping process in a very personable and interactive way after seeing my interest in the coffee trees. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I had an incredible time here. "Rasta", our guide, drove us around in an ATV to see all the farm has to offer. We picked our own fruit, tasted cinnamon leaves right off the tree, crushed the leaves of allspice in our bare hands and smelled that wonderful fragrance. And, of course, the coffee!! Kona coffee is very low acidity and is my favorite so this was the main reason to go. They have won many awards. But there was so much more! Tasting was bliss with Mac nuts, chocolate, dried apple bananas....and the best rum cake I have ever tasted! Oh, and if you love animals, they have a goat, dogs, cats, peacocks and a parrot that sings opera (but only for the ladies...) In short, we loved it. And we left with coffee, chocolate coffee peas, and rum cake to last us...well, a week or two :)

We husband and I visited Sunshower Farms for a coffee tour yesterday. Don’t get discouraged by the trip up there because it is well worth it. Kate, the owner, showed us around her coffee fields and explained all about growing coffee. Afterwards, we enjoyed a taste testing and was able to purchase coffee beans from her farm to bring home and enjoy. Thanks Kate! I would recommend a trip to this coffee farm if you are visiting The Big Island.

They have the wow factor at the entrance of the tasting room. Smallest coffee cups of all the tasting rooms. The medium roast was good but the cold brew was very bitter, unlike most Kona coffees.

Really wanted to visit a botanical garden while on the Big Island and visit a coffee plantation.Amazingly I managed to do both when visiting Mauka Meadows. Gardens leading down from the parking take you thru beautiful native plants and fruit trees. A bonus is that you may eat any of the fruit you see on the grounds at no charge .The path eventually leads to the outdoor cafe where you are offered some of the delicious Kona coffee grown on the grounds. I bought some coffee beans after sampling the coffee. A great experience and kid friendly.
