Located the restaurant via TripAdvisor which was walk-able from the hotel. It could not have been a better choice - we had booked the last table for 6 people with our French friends! The choices and quality of the meals were wonderful and no issues with our likes and dislikes, in fact some dishes were changed to accommodate no meat or garlic! We had a wonderful night with lots of French and English spoken! The lady who served us was a delight! Would definitely return next time in Rennes.

Don’t let the simple setting of this restaurant fool you - the food is top notch with reasonable pricing. For a first course, we had gazpacho with crème fraiche and layers of sliced radishes with herbed goat cheese and a caramel sauce. Our main courses were a local white fish with a rice pilaf and tomatoes and duck breast over a sweet potato purée and plum sauce. Our desserts were a pear soup with whipped cream and an almond cake with a thin layer of whipped raspberry icing and bars of semi-sweet dark chocolate. The service was great and friendly. The total bill with two glasses of a nice local white wine was €60.00. Reservations required. We would definitely go back in the future. Note: in Brittany, it seems to be the rule that there is only one sitting so the table is yours for the night.Thank you so much.In Brittany & in France, the restaurants use to have two sitting. But at Le 2 rue des Dames, we just have one, so yes : the table is yours for the night (but please let us go to bed, lol)See you.Julien.

This is the kind of restaurant I could imagine eating at every day, were I to live and work in Rennes. It is small, crowded and friendly, and our food was unpretentious, very tasty and extremely good value. We both chose the lunch special, chicken breast and potatoes, and it was great, perfectly complimented by the house red. I couldn't resist the superb chocolate lava cake dessert. If I'm ever in Rennes again, this is where you'll find me!

Had one of their menus each and while the starters weren't all to my taste, the grilled mains were great and the desserts were spectacular! Plus you get to choose two 'tapas' deserts which is great. Also, the kids menu was delicious - the pasta our daughter got was one of the best I've ever tried! And for once I didn't mind if she didn't eat much but she finished the whole plate!

I sometimes go to Rennes to visit some friends of mine and last weekend we decided to try this restaurant for the first time out of curiosity after we saw they have just changed owners. We had a very pleasant evening on the terrace. The location is great, in a very quiet area of the town centre on the Canal which is quite relaxing and offers a nice view. All tables have been offered a glass of Champagne on the occasion, to celebrate their opening which we thought was a very nice touch. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food was exquisite. Very fine and tasty as well as beautifully presented. I'm not a sweet-tooth and can easily finish a meal without dessert, but these are a delight. Very balanced and light, I can't even imagine going back and not trying another one next time. If you are looking for a fine dining experience without an expensive bill, this is the place to go! The tough part is to chose, each dish is more mouth-watering than the next. Have a try, you will definitely go back, I know I will !Thank for your comment, we are proud you enjoyed your meal in our restaurant. If you come back to Rennes, you're welcome.

We celebrated there the birthday of my daughter. It was the second time we visited this restaurant. It is a simple place, no fussy decoration, calm with nice atmosphere. The staff was very polite and helpful. We ordered champaign (for the celebration) and then 2 of the Paris menus and one New York menu. The food was delicious. A small remark only for the sweets which were not at the level of the food, still nice though. The prices were really good for such a quality of food. We will visit again.

Had lunch here, went with a main course each and a sweet crepe for desert. They brought out a little slice of a really tasty crepe as an asume bouche which was lovely and spicey. I then had a gallete with mustard cream sauce and sausage whilst my wife had a prawn, scallop and chilli one. They also had more traditional choices if you fancied them. Both were delicious and I would happily have returned for dinner. It was also reasonably priced. Definitaly it's one to book though, it was chucking it down and we were lucky to get a table for lunch, but for dinner I think you'd need to make a reservation.

While being a bit off the beaten track in a small village, this place is just marvelous. Very stylish design meets perfect service and a creative kitchen. We went for the menu for 75 Euros that started with very interesting little dishes, and culminated in a perfect turbot. The sommelier suggested very fine wines by the glass as well. We paid 210 Euros for two people, exceptional value for the food and surroundings offered.

We were left with very positive impressions following our discovery of this friendly restaurant tucked away towards the upper end of the main street in Rennes. The staff (a couple of young men) were friendly, chatty, and efficient. The food was not just good but full of surprises: my wife loved her lentil salad with duck hearts - not something she'd tried before - whilst I was blown away by my main course of veal with carrot puree, because the puree contained kaffir lime, and that really worked. Desserts too were imaginative, with the Rennes Brest a stand out. Great wines from a short but really interesting list. Of the many restaurants we've tried in Rennes, a city we return to regularly, this really left memories.
