We sat on the terrace and it was a great view. The food was okay but not noteworthy. This is the only food choice on the island, and we are glad we stopped here for lunch. The chicken salad was good as was the bean and potato soup. It is a fine place to enjoy some wine.

This was our fifth stay at the Bussola as Orta is somewhere we visit regularly and if we can we plan our touring holidays to have a few days relaxation here. As ever the staff were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English, and as far as I could tell French and German too. Breakfast is a buffet but they will cook omelettes or fried eggs on request and sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake is the perfect location to enjoy it. The only minor criticism was that the WiFi arrangements now seem dated. You pay â¬3 for 24 hours, cumulative not continuous, and the signal was not consistent.

We went over to Pella on the boat from Orta San Giulio and saw this restaurant by the boat ramp.We had the dayâs set menu choices of Orrechiette with Broccoli, Spaghetti with Tomato and Olives, Vitello Tonnato and Beef Roll stuffed with Ham and Egg.All dishes were delicious, appeared simple but had great depth of flavour and high quality ingredients. The host was a master of the art of hospitality, the staff professional and the price very good value. We paid a total of 34 Euros for two courses each, a quarter litre of wine, water and bread. Pella is very pretty and not at all touristy. This restaurant makes the trip over extra-special.

Great views and wonderful balcony for al fresco dining. Also great location to be able to escape the throngs of people that seem to find their way to the town of Orta.The food for us was very good albeit the things we chose off the menu were straight from the 80's. Prawn Cocktail! Really! but was nice and tasty and a great size.Then for mains we had a Steak with mushroom sauce and I chose the steak au poivre. Service was fine, only three tables of diners and we were in no rush.All in all a fun place for lunch.

The restaurant didnât open until 7 so waited till then And weâre seated at an upstairs table. Waiter promptly took care of us and his English was excellent, turns out he was born in the USA. Service was great and the food was well presented and tasty. Prices were reasonable too. Would recommend this restaurant in Orta.

This is a lovely restaurant with great food and wonderful service. On arrival they offered us a complimentary glass of Prosecco. I highly recommend the prosciutto and the risotto with pear was divine. My husband had the black spaghetti with seafood which was very good. Also had local fish and veal. Very casual local place and lovely decor. The hotel recommended the restaurant and they were right. We shared a bottle of delicious gavi and bill was 130 euros. Excellent

This is a fantastic restaurant, with quality cooking and quality service. One of the two best restaurants in the area. It deserves its Michelin one star, and more. I tend to feel that the Michelin Guide overrates, that even its 3 stars often do not deserve it. In fact, during this trip to Italy I went to a Michelin three star restaurant, and Locanda di Orta was just as good, and far more reasonably priced. I would highly recommend it.

We spent five days in Orta and had four meals at La Motta. They are closed on Tuesday! This is sufficient for two people to get through all of their menu. We loved everything! Food is great, wines are pretty good, service friendly and helpful. Not to be missed! Outdoor seating is lovely in summer, but there is plenty of room inside too-lots of character in the rooms.

Chef Cannavacciulo is one of the most famous chefs in Italy, a bigger-than-life character on the local Masterchef program. The celebrity status and frequent absence from the restaurant does not affect in any way the absolute excellence of any dish produced for the enjoyment of the guests, though. Traveling from south to north through the tasting menu will allow you to discover and enjoy the perfection of cooking techniques displayed by the talented and passionate team put together by the chef. However, the dishes from Campania on the a la carte menu are the ones that express the heart and soul of Chef Cannavacciulo. The best cuisine experience from a stay at La Villa Crespi will be enjoyed when two evenings are spent at the restaurant, one to discover the various features of the tasting menu, and the following one to get deeper into the life experience of the chef expressed in the cuisine from his home region. The sommelier is also very versatile and will know not only how to pair wines with dishes skillfully, but also how to sense what your wine affinities are to complete a more personal experience. I went to Veruno for the festival and we spent a lot of time in this bar and restaurant. We also had dinner there the first night. The pizzas are so good and tasty! Awesome service, good prices! Breakfast and coffee are to die for and Spritzs are yummy! Good croissants and paninni as well. Lovely people running it. And everyone made us feel welcomed and like visiting an ever familiar place.
