Koggala is a small coastal town, situated at the edge of alagoon on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in Galle District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. Koggala is bounded on one side by a reef, and on the other by a large lake, Koggala Lake, into which the numerous tributaries of the Koggala Oya drain. It is approximately 139 kilometres (86 mi) south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 3 metres (9.8 ft) above the sea level.

It was the best thing we did during our whole trip in Sri Lanka! We learnt so much about Sri Lankan cooking and had such a fun time with Sampath. Couldn’t recommend it more! We used this taxi service while we were staying in Galle. They were extremely professional, punctual and the cars were clean and very comfortable. Galle, 119km from Colombo, is a major city situated at the tip of the South Western coast of Sri Lanka. Being a coastal area, it is quite hot and humid but has an abundance of beautiful beaches in every town that you pass while travelling from Colombo to Galle. The Galle Fort was built by the Portuguese, fortified later by the Dutch and is well preserved till today. In addition to the Portuguese and Dutch remains, you will also find many British mansions left behind. As for beaches, the Unawatuna Bay probably tops it all and is safe for snorkelling and swimming because a reef protects it. There you have it, a day tour of the city of Galle in a nutshell.

My family and I enjoyed a trip to northern Sri Lanka taking in the beautiful temples of Mihinthale, Tantirimale and Anuradhapura and enjoying the wonderful scenery in Jaffna and on our boat trip to Delft island. After reading a bunch of recent reviews, my friends and I were very enthusiastic about this trip. Whilst the transfer from our hotel was ok, we were disappointed with the jeep. It was pretty beat up compared to lots of others around. On top of that we weren’t offered a guide as mentioned in other reviews. Our driver wasn’t particularly chatty or informative. Throughout the trip we were reminded that we ‘were lucky’ to see elephants as it was dry season. Our driver did go deeper into the park than other companies though my friends and I are can’t agree whether this was to take up time or because he was genuinely trying to find us other animals. A nice little snack and tea were provided though and we DID end up seeing the elephants so 3 stars for that.

The trip with our Private Driver (Wajira) was absolutely perfect! He was professional, friendly, funny and showed us many beautiful places we might not have discovered without him. Our wellbeing was his priority and we felt really safe and taken care of. Furthermore he was always punctual which is very valuable as we have had not so good experiences with punctuality the second week without him. We organisation with Yenara was easy and professional!
