Top 10 Cultural Tours in Reykjavik, Capital Region

July 6, 2021 Sachiko Swiger

Reykjavik bears the distinction of being the world’s northernmost capital, and for many Icelandic visitors it also serves as a gateway to the rugged adventure options beyond. Recharge after outdoor pursuits in one of the many geothermal springs or luxurious indoor spas. We appreciate Reykjavik’s open-minded and energetic culture that includes a hip and internationally recognized music and arts scene, great food and notoriously "enthusiastic" nightlife.

Our first day in Reykjavic we walked the city with our guide Arnaut. He did a great job introducing us to what the city has to offer and the rich history of Iceland. Arnaut was a great guide and showed as much interest in us as we did him and his culture. After the tour we felt comfortable with the city and spent several more hours back tracking our steps to spend more time in the many shops and attractions. Thanks Arnaut for an excellent overview of Reykjavik! This tour is highly recommended.

We had a spectacular 6 day/5 night custom tour of northern Iceland with Bjorn, having done several great day trips from Reykjavik the previous year. We visited Akureyri, Lake Myvatn, Husafell and the Snaefelness Peninsula. There are no words to describe the unique scenery - and we very highly recommend this off-the-beaten-path itinerary - but Bjorn, personally, made the trip what it was. His planning was meticulous and flawless. His judgment I making daily choices was perfect. He is a superb driver. He was indefatigable in his successful hunt for the Northern Lights. Above all, he has an infectious enthusiasm for his stunningly beautiful native land. Having toured Iceland twice with Bjorn, we are already planning our return for a threepeat.

We had two cooks come over to our vacation home a bit outside Reykjavik to celebrate the 50th birthday of my mum and uncle with a 3 course sit down dinner. The food was probably the best we’ve ever eaten! It was exceptionally presented and just on the right side of big enough to leave everyone satisfied. The communication with Nicolas was very pleasant and we could easily accommodate two vegetarian family members and even have an extra meal done for a very picky eater. Since we could choose each course from a variation of dishes, we could tailor the dinner exactly to our taste and have an incredible outcome. Nicolas also provided a recommendation of wines that paired wonderfully with the food. I can highly recommend Creative Iceland to have an unforgettable experience just at your vacation home!

Highly recommend this tour if you planning to visit Iceland. Jens, one of the owner of this company is an understanding, responsible, professional and knowledgeable guide. We have joined the aurora and glacier tour in Feb 2020 and it was an unforgettable experience in my life. Just 3 of us in the group, like engaged a private tour. Jens will share the history of Iceland throughout the journey. Sometimes, he might be a bit quiet, but he will be able to answer every question and share the tips with you. Breakfast and dinner were included in the tour and he will stop along the way in town for us to grab the lunch. Breakfast is in buffet style and dinner prepared by the Farmhouse/Guesthouse was really really delicious! The Farm stay and guesthouse were cozy with nice view. The tour is reasonably priced and worth every penny.
