Stari Kastel: the enthusiastic reviews you are getting are WELL DESERVED ! Thank you, StariKastel chef and whole team for making this an unforgettable birthday evening. Gourmet food and wine presented and explained professionally by most competent waiter Alex; smooth and never-too-loud jazz vibes in the background, spectactular panorama sunset. You guys are the best. Somewhat pricey, if you choose the ingenious 5- or 7-dish menus with wine accompaignment, but it's well worth it. Most importantly: If you run into a traffic jam at the nearby Slov-Cro border and have to wait an hour: DO NOT TURN BACK ! You don't want to miss the StariKastel experience !!! Leo K.Vienna, Austria

Marino is a charming restaurant located minutes from the Slovenian / Croation border. The staff is professional, friendly and will accommodate most food requests. Their pasta with black or white truffles (when in season) is second to none. Their steak is amazing. It's prepared on an open fire at the back of the dining room. Wine is wonderful. Grappa, after dinner, served by the proprietor Dada, is a perfect way to end a spectacular meal. I would highly recommend Marino. I've become such a frequent visitor, I had to order additional pages on my passport to accommodate trips to this fantastic eatery.

We went in konoba Pjero for sleep We (group of 4 girls) had a really exelent time there. We ate lunch and breakfast (egg with asparagus, cheese and prosciutto, deserts) and slept one nigh. Everything was delicious and the room was clean and confortable. I would especcially like to praise the staff. They were extremely friendly and helpful.I recommend.

We like the San Leonardo because it has a few items on the menu we don't usually see, good salads for instance, and we enjoy Kabola wine by the glass (although it's more expensive than local wines in other restaurants/bars). Pizzas are great. Staff very friendly.

Attached to a farm, where grapes, olives and other fruits and vegetables are grown by ecological standards, this family-run restaurant is one of the true pearls of north-western Istria: the menu consists of "old school" istrian dishes (my favourite: pljukanci pasta with boškarin meat - the names are hard to translate in english, just as the tastes are hard to translate into words). The best fact is that the prices are - normal! And even better - they have two wild boars for pets, you're most likely to find them napping in a barrel at the entrance of the restaurant... And the view is just amazing. And... I could just go on like this forever...

+ Steak tartare and beefsteak were great. Very good beer.- Only complaint is slow service - we waited too long for everything even though there were only a few people in the restaurant. Do not recommend a cheesecake that looks very nice on the plate but in reality there is more whipped cream than cheese in it.

simply wow.ravioli with truffles, gnocchi with asparagus....then 1 beef filet with parmesan cheese and one beef steak in truffles...and we were basically blown away. this place is the real deal for truffle lovers. we will return!ps: the pic attached is a steak covered in truffles. didn't think this cover was necessary for a good piece of meat....but I learned it was!!!

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with their seafood, the octopus in the salad that we ordered was cheewy, warm, terrible taste and most deffinitely not fresh. For the sake of our health we didnât eat it. Whatâs worse, when we told them about it they didnât react, nor appollogise or reimburse us for the dish, making the visit of this restaurant an unpleasant experience.However the main dish that we ordered was fine.

We had a lovely dinner at Stari podrum.As I read in reviews, table reservation is a good thing to do so I reserved table for the evening.Waiter came quickly, we didn't wait long for the food to come. Everything was delicious and the exterior is so pretty.Bonus is that pets are welcome :)
