Enjoyed our stay

Reviewed By calamityjane2016

Stayed here earlier this month for a week. Antonis was a perfect host and was always friendly. The apartment was clean with a seperate room with a comfortable double bed. The air con was effecient and very quiet too. The wardrobe had a safe and was easy to use with just a key. The bothroom had a powerful hairdryer and a shower over the bath with plenty of hot water. The dining area had table and chairs (with salt/pepper and toothpicks), a sofa and a large fridge freezer with an icecube tray which was handy. We were left 6 x bottles of water which was a nice touch. The kitchenette was small but we only made hot drinks so perfect for us. All in all we really liked staying here, very central, close to the bakery and a small supermarket. Just round the corner from the beach and restaurants too. Would highly recommend.

Nice price, nice people, nice place: suggested!

Reviewed By Alice B

Almyrida is in a great place, close to Chania and to the highway that connect the north west of Crete. Meandros is close to the sea, it offers nice apartments that are cleaned each three days from a memeber of the family that owns the place. Remember that the payment has to be done only in cash (an Atm is close to the Meandros). Affordable prices even during summer, suggested!

Each apartment has its own balcony where you can enjoy the magnificent exciting panoramic view of the Cretan sea and the high mountains.

Good value with a great view

Reviewed By Billy M

We booked the Kaloudis apartments as a short notice break, quiet relaxing was the key elements. We arrived at the property about 22:00hrs to be met with the manager and his assistant. They both helped carry our cases to our room and gave a quick demo of the apartments AC etc. The studio room was basic however, clean and tidy, the rooms were cleaned each day (7 night break), bedding and towels replaced daily. The pool was amazingly quiet (apart from a chorus of crickets), clean and well maintained. The views from the balcony of Almyrida and the area surrounding were impressive and uninterrupted. We had no issues to bring to the managements attention, however, I feel no issue could not have been resolved quickly as they were very keen to ensure we had a lovely stay. I have one minor complaint, no sun canopies around the pool, it can get really hot. The only other matter I would mention, a car would be a requirement if walking is an issue, Almyrida is a 20 minute walk away.

The best place to stay in Almyrida

Reviewed By rob s

We have stayed in this hotel for over six weeks, and I can honestly say that we have never had more comfortable accommodation. The room is clean, comfortable and spacious. We had two balconies, and the bathroom is the best we have ever had. It’s modern and the shower is unbelievable. Everything the owners have done has been done with care. And the best thing is that you are right across from the beach. All this at reasonable prices. I haven’t even mentioned that the owners are extremely nice and helpful and that Maria, the woman who cleans the rooms is wonderful. For us, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Almyrida.

Exceptional host, clean and relaxing

Reviewed By snoozey3967

We stayed for 4 nights; our room (1) was very clean, comfortable and had a wonderful view over the sea plus a large terrace. Kera is situated out of the village, surrounded by grape vines and very quiet. It has a beautiful pool and plenty of sun loungers overlooking the beaches which can be reached via a path. Jurgos the host is exceptional- full of interesting facts about the area, generous with his time and facilities, really helpful and nothing is a problem! The rooms are very reasonable for such wonderful service and location. We definitely plan to visit again. Ps If visiting, try his olive oil- it’s absolutely delicious!!

Almost, but not quite, perfect!

Reviewed By MizzTraveller

The studio (we had room 8) was stunning and looked every bit as lovely as it did in the advertising. Really well maintained, tastefully decorated, comfortable bed. pillows and sofa and pretty well equipped. The views are absolutely incredible, the best in the village I would reckon. A consequence of the fantastic views are some pretty steep hills and steps to access it meaning this place would be unsuitable for those with mobility problems. The pool is lovely but not really suitable for children as the depth is 1.6 metres throughout. It’s freezing cold too! Now I’m going to get a bit picky as all was not perfect. When we arrived we had problems with the air-conditioning and with the temperature running at 36C we really needed it sorted out. As it turned out it was user error (the aircon won’t work if the door is even slightly ajar) BUT I failed to make contact with the owner/manager. Firstly I sent a reply to a text message they’d sent me. When I received no reply I used the contact method noted in the room, ie contact by Whatsapp. That too gained no response. The next day we phoned the noted number and the person who answered the phone (at Sun and Sea Plus Resort in Plaka) didn’t know anything about Panorama. The aircon was sorted out but I worried about what would have happened if we’d had a real problem with it or maybe locked ourselves out of the room. There were a couple of little touches missing too, ie bottled water. It’s the first apartment/room/hotel we’ve stayed in for many years which hasn’t provided bottled water daily. Also there was no dustpan and brush – a little thing I know but it would have been nice to have cleaned up the sand from the floor and would have been pretty useful if we’d dropped a glass or some china. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again if we return to Almyrida and would highly recommend. PS. A bit miffed we didn’t get the complimentary bottle of wine other reviewers have mentioned!!!

Villa Dina

Perched on the side of the small hill of Almyrida, overlooking its Bay, stand the Villas Dina.A glorious panoramic view is the great bonus of those hilltop apartments, by day of White Mountains and the sandy beaches and by night of the superb sunsets. The well- presented, small modern block of the seven apartments is owned by a local family who take pride in this property.Because of its elevated position catches the sun and a lovely sea breeze. The apartments are all simply but nicely furnished. They are comfortable, bright and each one of them has its own sea view balcony with chairs and a table so that all the guests can enjoy breakfast or a drink, reading a book.

Breathtaking views

My friend and I have just returned from an 11 night stay in the two bedroomed Apartment 3, Villa Dina. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Artemis and Dina are both extremely friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our holiday. The apartment is extremely clean, light and airy and has a large balcony affording the most wonderful views of Almyrida with the mountains behind and a huge vista stretching across towards Chania. I can honestly say it is one of the best and most beautiful views I have ever experienced. We sat on the balcony for many hours and watching the sunset was a delight. I recommend you take binoculars as there is a lot to see for miles around. The sandy beach and tavernas are only a short distance away. The beach shelves out very gradually and is ideal for swimmers of all abilities including small children. A car is definitely recommended however there is a bus which runs several times a day to Chania, a 45 minute journey which only costs €6.40 return. We will definitely return one day.

Great stay in lovely and superclean apartment

Reviewed By Vero S

The property was easy to find and the first impression of it was very good, the apartment was very clean (with no kind of "peoplish" or old cooking smells etc. at all), with a big shower, good wifi connection, air condition, good equipped kitchenette, comfortable beds. Before we arrived, we were very tired of our journey, but the warm and joyful welcome of Lilian, our great host, let disappear all fatigue. Also the fruit and wine, which she had put in our room before our arrival, refreshed our minds. At that moment we were sure that we would spend a peaceful and happy holiday and now I have to confirm that we were absolutely right. The apartment is in a great location, surrounded by trees and flowers, different shops and bakery in small distance and just some minutes to walk to the beach but far enough of the hustle and bustle of the village and its tavernas. The property is a good starting point for trips to Chania, Rethymnon, Kissamos (Balos beach!), the mountains and many other points of interests. But lazy as we were :), we often just preferred to relax on the beach which we liked a lot. We were also very happy with Maria, the cleaning lady, who was very diligent and, like Lilian, a very kind person. I also do recommend G+L Jewellery down in the village, which is run by Lilian and her lovely family, where we indulged ourselves to buy some of their beautiful jewellery, which we now wear as decorative souvenirs. All in all, we spent a perfect holiday and will definitely come back!
