Top 10 Concerts & Shows in Midtown, Georgia (GA)

April 4, 2022 Claudia Navarrete

Atlanta has been dubbed everything from the "capital of the new South" and "the next international city" to "the best place to do business." It's also a great place to visit. Fueled by the prosperity of local mega companies like Coca Cola and Holiday Inn, the prestige of hosting the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and the energy of young upwardly mobile types who have migrated to the city in droves - Atlanta is on fire. And this time it's a good thing. From world-class restaurants and a myriad of cultural attractions to a hip nightlife and sporting events galore, the city is cosmopolitan in every sense of the word. But Atlanta has also managed to maintain its historic character. Stop by the Atlanta History Center or visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site, a moving tribute to an American icon. Browse through the former home of famous author Margaret Mitchell or pop into the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum for details on the life and times of the former president and his family. Whether you choose modern urban endeavors or old southern pleasures, Atlanta will not disappoint.

Great and beautiful venue in downtown Atlanta!! My husband and I were there back in June to see Third Day and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very nice and helpful in helping us find our seats and everything was very well organized!

Symphony Hall is a classy place for a concert. We've been to a number of concerts here over the years and always have had a good time. (Most recently the band America 1/26/20) Its intimate (1,700 sears), all seats have good sight lines and the acoustics are great. My only gripe is that there is no center aisle. So if you are seated in the center of the row, get there a little early and plan on staying in your seat for the duration. If you pre-buy your parking in the Art Center deck online its $27 (including a service fee) and guarantees you a spot. But valet is $26 the night of the show. There is also plenty of parking nearby. The area is busy, well lit and is as safe as anywhere intown. If you are going green the Art Center Marta Station is right there.

We were looking for something to do before a wedding, and we found out about this museum and stopped by. I found the exhibit about the history of puppets are the world to be very interesting, and I loved all the interactive elements to it. I learned so much about something I knew little about, and I enjoyed seeing some of the puppets from the Broadway production of the Lion King. I had no idea that Jim Henson had donated so many of the Sesame Street puppets to the Museum, and I enjoyed that exhibit as well. It was cool to learn about the Muppets and things like that. I also liked the Dark Crystal exhibit; I had never heard of that movie before and the exhibit inspired me to watch it. It was a nice surprise and I'm glad we stopped by. Being a museum professional myself, I appreciated how it tries to get the public involved through all the interactive elements, and I definitely think the museum should make more of them. Keep up the great work!

We always try to attend at least one Christmas Concert at the Atlanta Symphony each year. This year it was with the Gwinnett Youth Singers and the Atlanta Symphony Chorus with special guest Timothy Miller, an acclaimed vocalist the world over. The concert was wonderful and Timothy Miller is outstanding! He did many favorites for the holiday season. The Atlanta Symphony is outstanding always!! We love their concerts. Also having valet parking is a real plus for concert goers.

The Alliance Theatre’s, A Christmas Carol Drive-in , was absolutely amazing. A brilliant Covid solution. They’ve got things perfectly organized so it’s a completely smooth experience in every way. I mean they thought of everything! Staff is unbelievably kind. And the production is a home-run. Plus, it’s jam packed with clever ways to include the audience. Most important, the talent is exceptional: script, music arrangements, actors!, live sound artist, sound designers, set and lighting designers, technicians, costume designer, and the rest. If you can see this, run don’t walk. It’s so much fun. Bring lawn chairs if you have ‘em but we sat in our car and could see everything. Alliance, although we love your yearly production, please do the Drive-in again next year.

This was something my honey picked for us because it was her turn to pick the event for the night. It was a GREAT time. The theatre was stadium style so you don't miss anything and the performers were first rate and funny as hell. The cost was reasonably inexpensive but the quality of the performance was absolutely 1st rate. The Audience was fully engaged and it was improv comedy at its finest! If u wanna laugh all night this this the place! I highly recommend this for a great night out and lots of fun.

Center Stage Theater

Reviewed By amtedrow

Everything about my first visit to Center Stage this past weekend was great. Parking was easy and convenient (we used the deck attached to the building), all the staff, from the folks at the door to the bartenders and ushers, were friendly and helpful, and there's not a bad seat in the house. Based on the seating chart, I was worried we'd be far from the stage, but the venue is small and the seats are fanned out from the stage in a circle, so everyone has a good view. Also, we were hungry and DaVinci's was selling slices of pizza before the show - I'm not sure if that happens at every show, but it was a much-appreciated bonus.
