We will share our culture with you while you learn our language.Excellent resultsWe make sure that you are making the most of your stay and learning Spanish quickly and easily, no matter what your age, background or Spanish skills are. Our practical methodology , innovative books & intimate class size ensures excellent results. We will even offer you extra classes at no cost, if necessary, to ensure that you will achieve your language goals.

As I am a little older, I was slightly apprehensive about trying to learn a new language; but I'm SO happy I did. The instructor Rodolfo was extremely patient and always in good humor. I explained my reason for wanting to speak Spanish and he tailored the instruction to my goals. We were given instruction books to study along with the verbal lessons. The school is located in a very nice, safe suburb of San Jose and is close to lots of restaurants, transportation and they really adhere to safe and sanitary protocols with regard to Covid-19. The facility itself is clean modern and has a very nice outdoor patio garden area as well. The staff was especially prompt and helpful in answering all my questions. We were placed with a local family for accommodations - and it was inexpensive, clean and our hostess Yinette was friendly and a very good cook. This also gave us a chance to practice Spanish and do our homework in an immersive environment. I was able to start basic conversations after the first few lessons for ordering food at restaurants and getting directions to get around. Overall I highly recommend this experience not only to learn but also to travel around the country on the weekends. (Our classes were Monday to Thursday - so we had 3-day long weekends to travel and practice our Spanish). So much more than just a vacation.

I spent a month at Academia Tica living in the student residence that they have at the school. My time at the school was amazing which was mainly down to the great teachers at the school and the style of teaching that they provide. I learnt so much Spanish while I was there and really enjoyed the learning. The school itself is in a great location and has a lovely garden too. The facilities at the school are great and the opportunities you have while there are great too, particularly the activities organised by Mario. I loved my time at Academia Tica and would love to go back one day!

I stayed for two weeks with my boyfriend and we learnt so much in the experience that I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants improve their Spanish, immerse themselves in Costa Rican culture, learn about sustainable living or just generally would enjoy a farm experience. I was very nervous before however as soon as we met Donald he made us feel incredibly welcome. Him and his wife Xinia are such lovely and happy people. There were only a few volunteers on the farm when we stayed which made it a very intimate experience and meant you could really get to know each other. Xinia’s food is incredible!! And she is so accommodating as both my boyfriend and I don’t eat meat or dairy and that was never an issue. The work is interesting, generally the day to day is quite chilled so if there is anything you specifically want to do or learn about on the farm just ask Donald as he is always happy to show you or teach you about anything. I got so much more from this experience than I ever expected, it is definitely an experience I would recommend without hesitation.
