Probably the most magnificent and prominent reminder of Chennai's colonial lineage, the San Thome Church bears a colossal amount of history since A.D. 52, the year when St. Thomas traveled to India, though the Roman Catholic basilica was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. It was then rebuilt by the British in 1893. The imposing structure reaches a height of 155 feet and emanates peace and architectural splendor with its tall spires over the tomb of the saint. The sea makes a wonderful backdrop to the pristine white structure. The San Thome Church is considered one of the pilgrimages for people around the world.

San Thome Church, also known as St. Thomas Cathedral Basilica and National Shrine of Saint Thomas, is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Santhome, in the city of Chennai, This church has the status of a minor basilica, originally the old church was built in the 16th century by Portuguese explorers and rebuilt again with the status of cathedral by the British in 1893, Touring to this Madras Santhome Cathedral Basilica church is pretty easy, as you will get auto rickshaws, 'call taxis' and even luxurious cabs. Auto rickshaws are the cheapest ones but bargain carefully before you get into one.

A divine presence could be felt in this campus. A hidden historical place more important than the St. George Fort, and a long big tradition lives here. I dont know how many of the parishioners from present congregation knows the history and tradition. The cemetery in the campus shows the poor administration by the diocese . A must visit in Chennai.

Full Gospel Telugu Baptist Church is a ecumenical church of this present generation. This is a gospel Community Dedicated to spread the Gospel of the Jesus Christ. It was started as small gathering in 1900 by the village elders. It was extended 2 times as of today. Today's it has over 250 people attending the Sunday Service

The place was founded, and the church built by the famous saint Thomas one of the disciples of jesus christ and his mortal remains is kept here. while this is one of the 5 churches which holds the martal remains of the famous disciples of jesus while the other 4 are at Spain, goa, Vatican .

Its one of chennai's oldest famous church and located in Armenian street and nearby of madras High court and well accessible by Highcourt metro station , chennai bus services, suburban rail network. People across religions will throng this place for prayer, its one of few religious site where all religious people will visit for prayer.

based on architecture.. maintenance are such a well one of the oldest church ... very close to egmore station and bus stop calm atmosphere and greeny garden mass timing fixed my proper schedule mostly in English and very well understandable
