This place while rated the best restaurant by Lonely Planet, pretty much disappointed us on our recent visit. The food taste is at best average with choices of local Austrians food and European food while prices are quite high and the decoration is not so charming

A la carte Restaurant at the Grandhotel Sophisticated gastronomy in exclusive surroundings: At the Grand Hotel Lienz be indulged with different types of culinary delicacies. â¢Pure enjoyment and delicious tastes go without saying â¢5 Individual and personal
We had two gourmet dinners here as part of our stay in the hotel. Both were excellent, cooked with great skill and served in a wonderful location. For example one night there was a choice of carrot sesame salad with orange and chicken or a mixed salad to start. This was followed by delicious carrot and orange soup. Then this was followed by rolled lamb with aubegene puree and coriander yoghurt. Main course offered choices between Paillard of beef with rocket salad or halibut with parsip or green pea risotto and this was all followed by banana, milk caramel and peanut or the cheeseboard. After all that silting by the river enjoying a cup of 'verlangeter' coffee - paradise. It just doesn't get better than this.

We stopped in at this restaurant on our drive through Austria and had a good feeling right away. The restaurant was very clean and organized and well played out and you could tell the owners took a lot of pride in their establishment. Service was quick and we got by in broken English and German. We all ordered schnitzel and spaetzle and were provided some of the biggest and best schnitzels we ever had the pleasure of being served. We ordered water to drink and this establishment ended up being the sole one on our trip that provided glasses of water at no charge. It was a little thing but very welcome too. I would highly recommend Gasthof Leitner.

We ate lunch there on a Sunday afternoon. Our hotel called ahead for seating in the courtyard in the back. It was a nice setting. They welcomed us quickly and gave us English menus. The service was good but local people seemed to receive more attention. However, the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. We enjoyed the space between tables to avoid those who were smoking. I would return.Thank you, Janet G

We are a family owned restaurant with typical austrian food, local products and a friendly staff. Our focus is on serving homemade food, from the famous "Schlipfkrapfen" to the delicious "Apple Strudel". The ambiente is unique because of the integrated wa
The restaurant is designed as an old water wheel mill, with actual and functioning water wheel outside. The design is locally authentic and offers a warm and welcoming feeling. The food is great and of large variety, so are the drinks. Try the tea of the local herbs and flowers! Or a local beer! The service is helpful and pleasant, although at times a bit slow. The location is great to stop by at the beginning or after your hike or hill climbing. The garden has a playground for kids and nice view of the opposite side of the valley. Overall one of the best places to have a meal near Liesing and in Lesachtal.

The Fasslwirt is a new Gasthof - Restaurant, run by a very capable young couple, husband chef, wife runs the service etc. Foodselection very good, not the usual fare but quite creative, presentation of food very attractive. Foodquality very good. At lunchtime serves mostly the people working in the factories around, in the evening a la carte service. Good wine selection.

Well cooked, well presented and tasty traditional Austrian dishes. The restaurant has a homely and laid back atmosphere that matches the feel of the local area. Hearty food that hits the spot after a day in the mountains.

After a steep climb by car (probably by foot as well) you arrive at this restaurant. It is situated at the top of a mountain (not as high as Grossglockner) and is a typical mountain cabin. The smells are spicy and meaty, which is nice. The menu contains typical Austria dishes and are delicious. :-) For the kids there is a kids menu and a playground, so the parents have time together. :-)The service is excellent! One advice, it's not possible to pay with a credit card, you should bring cash. When you're in the neighbourhood of Kotschauch-Mauthen, you should definitely go to Odenhutte!
Hier ist alles authentisch! Alles aus eigenem Garten bzw. aus eigener Zucht! Der Käse der Schinken die Wurst alles super lecker! Besonders zu empfehlen die Mohniggele!
