Atmospheric, fascinating, dramatic. For a very small fee we got subterranean chapel with curved walls that follow the rock formations, great halls with amazing views, drawbridge remains, a beautiful restored spiral staircase. And two wonderfully bizarre plaster and wood props from '70s and 80's movies filmed here - a sarcophagus and a great fireplace! Brill printed guides and keen single member of staff. Yes, the restoration is ongoing, but that is very much part of the charm. Why would I want a pristine reproduction of a dramatic ruin?
