The Juniper Bistro located off Norquay road just north of hwy 1, offers spectacular views of the mountains, Vermilion Lakes and the Bow river in either the lounge or dining room. Large wood burning fireplace in the lounge. Enjoyed a great dinner. The menu is somewhat eclectic, with an emphasis on locally sourced foods. BC wild mushrooms and beef tartare were both excellent and big on flavour. Beef tenderloin and squash risotto were superb. The Rocky roads desert was delicious while the profiterole was average. Staff were very friendly and helpful and service was excellent. Overall, a memorable dining experience featuring great food with stunning views and great service and presentation. I would definitely recommend and come again.

Ate here with a corporate group in their private room. Somewhat limited menu for the group but it did have a aged ribeye that awesome. Cooked to perfection, the flavor was outstanding and it was extremely tender. The sides were also very good. I had the mud pie bomb for desert which was also good. Service for our group was outstanding.

The service was impeccable and the food simply amazing. We had a three course meal that was paired with wine. Started with a lovely amuse bouche. I had the scallop appetizer which was wonderful and my husband had the tuna. We had the monk fish and the pork for our main course - everything was “ to die for”!!!! The presentation was beautiful. Highly recommend if price is no object!!! Lovely setting overlooking the mountains. I wish I could remember all of our waiters names because they were all wonderful.Thank you so much for your response. We are very happy you enjoyed your special dinner. The short version:Pros: Nice quaint little place in a fabulous hotel, pork belly and bison were excellent, chocolate cake was excellentCons: Very slow service, wines by the glass were underwhelming, expensive for what you getIf you are in to the details:We aren't the type who has to sit down and be served immediately and we were in no particular hurry this night either. Sometimes a place is slammed and we are understanding of that. That said, we arrived 10 minutes early for our 8pm reservation and our table was ready. We were given water at 8:15 (25 minutes later), wine came at 8:30 at which time we ordered a medley board. At 9:15 (45 minutes after ordering and 1 hour 25 minutes after arriving) we were out of water, out of wine, still no food and for approximately 40-45 minutes no one had been to the table to refill water or wine. It's not that the servers weren't working but it did seem that they were understaffed or unprepared. The servers were always polite and apologetic for the delays. The Fairmont hotel is an impressive hotel and worth seeing if you are not staying there. The atmosphere at Grapes is also quite nice. It's small and busy but relaxing. The food itself was also pretty good. We enjoyed the medley board and particularly liked the bison and pork belly. For cheese the brie was a favorite. The wines by the glass were a little underwhelming. I had the meritage and the FFC cabernet and both were ok but not spectacular. My wife had the GSM which she liked. I typically expect the wines by the glass to be some of the favorites and value picks from the wine menu. It did not feel like that here.We finished the night with the chocolate cake which was quite good. We liked how they put some kosher salt on the side. It's lets you play with the salt content to see how it changes the entire flavor of dessert. When finished the credit card machine wouldn't work. Apparently its an issue with the hotel wifi. We had to walk down to the level below to complete the transaction.Overall it is a nice place and the food good but average wines by the glass, expensive pricing, very slow service and glitches with trying to pay has me struggling with a rating better than average. There are plenty of bugs to be worked out here.Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear of the speed of service you encountered. We have shared your comments with our leadership team to look at ways to improve. I do hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff.Warm regards,Jeffrey C.Food and Beverage Manager

We do not often use the restaurants of hotels we stay in particulasrly if they are predomonently tourist hotels but La Terrazza looked a little different. It had an interesting menu, a spacious layout and comfortable looking chairs. We were not dissapointed the service and meal were excellent and above all the house wines (Both the red - Sangiovese and white - Pinot Grigio) were real value for money.Thank you so much for choosing to dine with us! We are so happy you enjoyed your meals as well as the service and ambiance. We are so happy you enjoyed our house wines and that they paired nicely with your meals. Please come back and visit during the winter well in full ski gear and enjoy the out door patio with a little apres by the fire bowl, it might not be as cold feeling then! All the best.
