Top 10 Bus Tours in Port of Spain, Trinidad

March 24, 2022 Natalie Tallman

Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, has the tall buildings, neon lights and crowded streets of many cities, but also a multicultural Caribbean character and a homegrown calypso soundtrack. The best-known occasion is the flamboyant pre-Lenten Carnival. Among the city's other offerings are cricket and football matches, year-round festivals, a botanic garden, malls, an art and history museum and historic buildings. Entertainment options abound, but be cautious after dark.

Despite the fact that Covid-19 has drastically impacted tourism in Tobago and we had to get a later tour, our experience was not one to forget. Our driver arrived early and was very helpful and friendly. On the way to and from the tour, he gave us useful tips and pointed out scenic locations. He also made every effort to accommodate us. The bucco reef was beautiful and we got the chance to go snorkelling. Truly an amazing experience. Would definitely do it again.

I should start by saying, food tours are my thing so me saying this was the best food tour EVER is well-considered. I was in Trinidad alone for two nights and all I knew was that I wanted to eat doubles and have a roti. This was my first time to Trinidad & Tobago but I’m lucky enough to have had some great Trini’ food in London. Or so I thought! Turns out nothing tastes better than a Trini’ food tour, in Trinidad with a Trinidadian who has the tea on the very best places to eat. Firstly, Anthony is a gem. You’re in safe hands whether a solo traveller or in a group. His communication and helpfulness from immediate booking of the tour was great. I had the privilege of being the only person on my nighttime food tour - I think I might have been the last or one of the last tours before the pandemic hit full on in March 2020. In fact, the tour was one of the last things I did that was in the old normal! If there is ever a place where a carnivore could happily become vegan / vegetarian, it’s Trinidad. I had doubles, beef roti, corn soup, a pork cutter, soursop icecream and everything was incredible. Not to mention the great history of Trinidad, it’s people and its food, that Anthony will keep you entertained with. If you only go one one tour in Trindad, make it one with Trinidad Food Tours.

It’s impossible to go hungry in the island paradise of Trinidad. Come to our favorite spot to taste some, in the parking lot of the expansive Queen Park Savannah which transforms into a lively fair with food vendors and occasional live music in the evening you’re never far from any of them, some you can find delicious versions of each. A mixture of corn, channa, pumpkin, dumplings, whatever the cook has decided to throw in, corn soup is served street-side in the park, we include corn soup, doubles, phoulorie and ice-cream in the cost. On our way to the Hotel, we go to the street of Port of Spain to visit, Aripita Avenue which is known as the Restaurant Street of Trinidad.
