Friendly and very helpful staff, good location
Reviewed By wilfridblairWe stayed here for three nights. Attentive service - coming back from a full day of sightseeing we reported a blocked toilet and were given a new room immediately. This willingness to please guests extended to the Restaurant which served an excellent breakfast where you could order certain dishes and offerings were replenished immediately. The room was a good size, bed was comfortable. We could hear people walking along the corridors. A/C worked well. Wi-Fi did not work anywhere in the hotel although it was one of the features mentioned in the hotel's ads. The location was great. 3 blocks to the ocean, 1/2 block to a multi-storey Atisan's Market and a minute from bus stops to the Historic Centre, the Ferroviaria and to Cabo Branco. For us, the location and Staff of this hotel were the best features. No Wi-Fi was definitely a negative.

Run-down, haggardly, very poor value for money

It was clean enough, with a good location ten minutes walk from the main drag, but felt like a sex motel. Dreadful value for money for what it offers compared to dozens of other Brazilian hotels I've stayed in, I have no idea why it has such generally positive reviews.

Quarto com ar condicionado bom, TV, cama confortável, café da manhã perfeito, banheiro estruturado, tem um roupeiro, uma frigobar, tudo limpo, pertinho da praia de Manaíra e de Tambaú tudo isso com um preço bom. Recomendo.

Reviewed By martainsThe pousada is located directly in front of Bessa beach in Joao Pessoa. The beach is long and beautiful, separated from the road by a garden .We saw lots of sort of orchids simply blooming at the ground and white large cranes standingby. Don't expect the classic beach "barracas" with food and drinks, it is a quiet beach perfect for walking, reading, playing sports. The seafront (the street where the pousada is) has some good restaurants (5mins walking at the beachwalk). The meat and food were very good, just prepare for the mastodontic servings. The pousada itself is a cared and family run business. You can see it has been built wanting to please guests. There was a small pool at the entrance and several areas for bbq-ing in case you are to stay long periods. It has no buildings nearby so it was peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Our room was in a second building, a correct size room with a good balcony overviewing the beach. There was a hammock if you wanted to simply enjoy the sunset from there (which we did). The bed was queen size comfortable, and the room decoration was simple but useful enough. Wifi worked well, which is quite rare these days! The bathroom was normal, it was a bit of fuss how to get the hot water, but we got to it. I would have expected a bit more pressure, but probably because I am a freak for it. Everything was spotless and very clean. The family gave us the best service, helped us to get a car at better prices than Über to go to Pipa, made all the arrangements for us. I have to highlight the incredible breakfast they got for us. At first I thought it was for another group, but not, it was all for us: fresh coffee, fresh juices, toasts and several types of bread, fruits, homemade cakes, cookies, cereals, marmalades,... plus any style eggs we wanted. We had them fried, and they suggested to tried them with couscous which we loved it! I think for the price paid for the room the Pousada is a jewel, specially because the family and the warm and caring service they gave us made it outstanding.

Reviewed By Luiz CThe staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and could give us advice of good trips and sightseeing around the town. You must go to visit "Praia do Jacare", hop on the boat for a ride in the Paraiba River. The tour last almost 2 hours, you can have drinks while watching local artists perform traditional dance "quadrilha" and "forro". They encourage everybody on board to participate, and they even give free lessons. A local artist rides a small boat while playing Ravel's Bolero on the clarinet. The tour ends with a delighting sundown, by the river's side listening to "Ave Maria" de Gounod. Unforgettable!
