Top 10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Skagen, Denmark

May 2, 2023 Russell Mellin

A large, busy harbor doesn’t dampen the charm of Skagen’s older neighborhoods, which offer distinctive yellow houses, great museums, ceramic and glass art galleries, and bike rental outlets. Harbourside restaurants serve fish fresh off the boats. If you’re used to Caribbean beaches, this will take some getting used to, but we bet Skagen’s craggy charms will win you over.

Skagen Harbour Hotel

Nice little exclusive and intimate hotel in Skagens old ship smithy, part of the town's authentic harbour environment. Next to the Swedish Seamens church.

Our preferred hotel in Skagen ; ) !

Reviewed By PKStolle

This was our first visit and stay in Skagen, so maybe a bit rushed to make 'Skagen Harbour Hotel' our preferred hotel for future visits, but we felt very welcome and loved the room given to us, which made the stay extra comfortable. Equally the breakfast was just perfect for us as a family to enjoy and start the day! Finally, the location of the hotel is ideal, allowing you to walk to most places such as the restaurants, the shopping street, the harbour, the beach, etc. We will definitely be back and look for the same room to book!

This is a family hotel, run by mother and daughter who do everything; reception, restaurant, cooking, etc, etc. Guests that are used to the bigger and more business like hotels might not feel at home. But we did, indeed. Rooms are small and somehow old fashioned but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is rather basic but a very good experience. Home cooking - that Danes really know how to do. Wifi was fine but no TV in the room (not missed by us) Negative, perhaps, is the location which is some KM from Skagen centre. There is a train 200m away that runs every 30 minutes (somewhat erratic schedule) and takes only a few minutes to town. We are used to bigger hotels but very much enjoyed this family operation and thank mother and daughter who cared very well for their guests.

Worn out, overpriced hotel

Reviewed By vsthmr

I like historic hotels, but the price must reflect what you get. I stayed in the Admiral Building, and it was underwhelming to say the least. Worn out, bad beds, very run down bathroom etc. I payed DKK 2.095,- for one night in a double room. Half the price would have been more suitable for this room and the breakfast. I'm never returning.

Right by Train station excellent value

Reviewed By gbb4U

lovely and immaculately clean hotel right across from the train station. Breakfast was wonderful, great selection and presented so nicely. Be aware they have music in a downstairs bar from 10.30-2 am on weekends so ask for a room that is away from the bar if that is a problem for you. I stayed - thanks to the great front desk Kim in a small separate building - room 339 that was super quiet and large w a small fridge. It was great. They had bikes for rent and they were good bikes. Very much enjoyed my stay.

Be aware before you make a reservation

Reviewed By Ann-Kristin2020

I advise you to be aware when you make your reservation! It is central, but the room is very small. There are no windows to open except a small bathroom window. During the night is was very uncomfortable because the window did not let much air in. There was also a very noisy refrigerator keeping me up at night. But, because this place has a nice location I wanted to stay here again this May. However, because of the situation there is no way for me to travel to Denmark this spring. Still, I had to pay full price which I feel was very unfortunate. Due to todays situation I tried to rebook my stay in the beginning of June. The owner hide behind «terms and conditions» and were not willing to change my days. He charged me the full amount and his explanation was that I had ordered a cheap price. Well, the price was not low and every hotel in Europe where I have made reservation for this spring has been flexible and changed my stay without hesitation.

Skagen Visit

Reviewed By v c

Jan & Susanne were very helpful for information about the town, area & ferry to Sweden from Frederikshaven. Sue gave good directions to get to thier house. Their place had 3 bedrooms downstairs, a kitchen, bathroom. They just ask you keep things cleaned up. You need bed linens or they can provide for a small fee. The room I was in was modern & had all a good hotel room would have. The house is about 15 minute walk from the train station. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and sights to see. Skagen was a larger town than I expected. The tip of Denmark is only a few KM north & there is also a tractor ride with a riding trailer you can take to the end out where the seas meet, about 30 dkk. Real nice place to stay.
