Disappointing overnight stay
Reviewed By 231rbNot a great experience… Upon ouf arrival, as our room’s TV wasn’t in order, we were given an alternative room as a replacement … problem id that it was a small room with no view, with the toilets positioned 2 metres from the bed, visible through a glass wall ! Total lack of privacy… We had to ask for Doom to get rid of the mosquitoes, the bedsite lamp plug wasn’t working and the AC seemed defective … The bed’s mattress was hard, and we experienced no hot water in the shower at night and in the morning. The guests toilets outside the room didn’t lock and there was no paper supply. Not a 5 stars stay..!

Reviewed By tlithg280926I spent a long weekend in Parys, staying at Hidden Grace. We were going for lunch and then going to check in, but I received 3 phone calls to ask where we were. So we checked in first and then went for lunch. On our return at about 5pm everything was locked up. We went to our room and decided to make some tea. We only had rooibos tea. I phoned the on site manager and Blessing came a while later and gave us some Ceylon tea bags. I asked her what time the bar would open and she said I could order now. I ordered a Cidar and some ice,then she locked everything up and disappeared. We were not told to use the bottled water in the kettle, so the tea was terrible. In the morning we had no hot water in the shower, the door in our room stuck and you had to lunge at it to open it. Waking everyone up. Nobody or a book in the room informed us that all the restaurants close at 5pm on a Sunday night. It was a disaster. Total darkness in the evenings, no availability to the bar on site, no sitting in the lounge. I would not recommend you stay at this establishment.

Reviewed By ywille257801We had a very nice stay over at Mirabel House. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The guest house is close to town and next to Oz. We will visit again. Hoenderhok is very private and perfect for an anniversary break away.

Most disappointing
Reviewed By Sharna DI so loved Lavender Hills on the previous visit however this time was a disaster. Sharon is still awesome and most welcoming but due to the load shedding, there was no electricity AND no water cause they use bore hold water that requires electricity to pump. There main trouble is that there was no generator and no alternatives. We were phoned in the morning to bring our own torches. But there was no electricity or water in the night or in the morning. I had taken my boys so that they could experience this place and Parys and it was all quite a mess and we left early as we could not bath/shower nor could we cook food. With no recourse. If you run a b&b in South Africa today where all your amenities rely on electricity you should have alternative options. I also understand that the electricity issue is not their fault. Anyway it was certainly a waste of money and disappointing.

Reviewed By Pieter JCarol is an absolute gem and made our stay even more memorable. This is the best accommodation in Parys and a stone throw away from the center of town. The tranquil water feature is a bonus and the outside living area a place where one can enjoy a cup of coffee with delicious rusks. Safe accommodation where a person can relax and recharge your batteries.

Disappointing stay
Reviewed By 191samkI booked the apartments for the weekend mistakenly thinking I can have a quiet relaxing weekend. But nope! Very disappointed with the place. First apartment I went into, I did not like and asked for a change to get the river facing one. From the broken (torn doormat) I should have known what was waiting for me inside. Dirty cushions, not so fresh smelling room or towels, lack of sound proofing (my neighbours could have as well been in my living room) or the 9 am sounds and noises and loud cleaners talking very loudly amongst themselves. Poor quality furniture, carpets the list goes on. It’s more suitable to probably young students who may not mind this, not a getaway for a weekend. Poor check in services had to look for someone to check me in. I paid for two nights and left after one did not even bother to ask for a refund for my early checkout. The one bright spot is the restaurant at the hotel side. That really had great fresh tasting food. That said I will not be back.

Stefna went out of her way to please us and make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The accommodation is clean, classy, beautifully furnished with a very well stocked kitchen. Even the staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you Stefna for an unforgettable stay.
