I came to Thong Takian to kill two days on a beach before I started a photo assignment on the island. All I wanted was a simple, clean room with a comfortable bed and a nice beach to decompress on after a long flight from London. Thong Takian nailed it. The staff are super friendly, the beach is wonderful and the little beachside restaurant was perfect. The coffee is amazing, even by my well traveled and snobby standards. Oh, the Thai food is good too. One thing I wouldn’t recommend is the sausages for breakfast. It’s one of those countries that just doesn’t do sausages or bacon properly. I would definitely come back here. Hopefully with more time and a stunning woman.

I’ve been to Lamai, Chaweng and Bang Po - Bang Po really stood out for me compared to the others. Both Chaweng and Lamai are very touristy, the sand colour is yellow. Bang Po is far quieter, less touristy, more secluded and the sand is whiter. The ocean colour is teal and the water is very warm with no waves

shallow water makes it possible to walk far out and still be in water that is at most chest deep. The surrounding neighborhood has some decent restaurants.

Not as popular as the upbeat Chaweng, but that's exactly the charm of this place - nice, quiet and truly cozy! The sand is not as fine, but not a problem for me here. It's definitely worth the time here for the calm waters, the views of the beautiful Koh Phangan in the distance surrounded by hues of turquoise blue (on a sunny day).

Loved this beacj very much, was close to our hotel, had lots of places to eat and drink right on the sand as well as in the township. The water was clean, no big waves, lots of activities and the hawkers were polite and left you when you said No thanks to them without any hassle.

The beach is cleaned and calm! But actually it depends on the weather. Sometimes the beach is dirty because of the unwonted debris from the ocean due to the weather! Anyway i still loved it! And will be back to koh samui
